Yes you absolutely can run 5w40 in your 6.7 powerstroke diesel. Here I go through a 2019 and 2021 and a 2011 owners manual.

This comment has nothing to do with oil but i would like to thank Anthony again for helping me out on my 22 6.7. I have had some questions for him an he emails me back with in a day. For example My 6.7's DPF Guage was not activated in my truck. Called 3 different dealers, they didn't want nothing to do with it. Talked to Ford Diesel Tech....Awww just run it....Really...ok. Anthony told me to buy Forscan an OB2 hook up...He actually called me, Walked me through it 5min. an done... Over the past 4 years ive had it with Ford dealerships. Just liked to thank Anthony for carrying an helping me out when no one else would.... Says alot about this fella. Thanks again really appreciate your hard work an videos.

Wanna change my transmission oil, dif, transfer case, radiator, and brake fluid all to Ams oil, for my 2021 Ford 150 2.7litre , it has 46,000 miles on it, is it ok and better to use the Ams products in that truck? Thanks man , love all your vids, all great info!

In fact it is thinner or it has to be something because my truck is way louder now that I switched to it. It might be very good oil but I can tell the difference from 10w30 and truck has only 22 k miles

@alsplumbingservicesllc2971 we went over this (lake speed and I on powerstroke tech talk with arods livestream) DS Trucks swore 10w30 was thicker. Lake explained why it is not. 5w40 is thicker than 10w30. The 5 and 10 number is what it flows like in very cold Temps. The 30 and 40 is the weight of the oil.

Great information as always Anthony! Apparently the individuals at this particular dealership must be legally blind and also hearing impaired. The information in the owner's manual is so clear and concise that Helen Keller would have easily understood what was being conveyed. As of July 1, 2022 home heating oil was to contain a minimum of 5% biodiesel in my home state. The amount of biodiesel will increase on a schedule to 50% by 2035. I would imagine that the overlords in Washington DC are monkeying with the diesel fuel supply as well. They have already poisoned our gasoline with ethanol.

I just can't grasp the fact they told him that when it is clearly printed on the cap and in the owners manual and the service manual. Is home heating oil a big thing up there? Not very common at all here. And yeah we also see what they did to the simple design of a gas can as well.

@@BeardedFordTech #2 home heating oil is the most popular fuel here in the Northeast followed by gas. Our boiler runs on oil. We also have a supplemental wood pellet stove. I'm guessing electric heat is more common down South. I have a few old style gas cans with vent bleeders. These new cans suck!

Oreillys and Walmart have the 5 qt jugs. We'll Walmart does around here. Not sure if they have it where you are. But oreillys carries motorcraft

I understand that 5W(Winter) -40 is a viscosity of 5 (thinner) at cold oil and a viscosity of 40 (thicker) at 212 degrees. Hence multi viscosity engine oil.

Not quite. The W stood for winter. Not really used that way anymore they just left it. Oil doesn't get thicker when it's hot. The 5 is the flow rate. For cold weather or cold starts. There is a scale they use to determine it. It's basically how fast it can pump through the engine on a cold start. Tested at -35 degrees. The 40 is the viscosity. The actual weight of the oil. Watch the livestream. Lake speed jr got on there with us and explained how it all works. Check his channel too. The Motor Oil Geek.

Even up here in Canada We run 10w 30 Ash control or HDEO in almost every Diesel other than Heui systems even the old IDIs and the old 2 stokes and we run 10w30 15w40 is for extreme hot and or extreme Driving conditions up here .. and for the 6.7s we try and run 5w40 because of the massive Oil pick up tube in the Pan and how shallow the sump is it will get through the system and back to the pan at the right Speed to prevent Dry pump syndrome

been running 5w40 since my first oil change. I'm pretty sure the owners manual says 5w40 is OK if it's synthetic and is a must with biodiesel fuel

Doesn't matter if it's synthetic. 5w40 or 15w40 is a must with biodiesel and in severe duty. You been running it since first oil change with no problems.

Synthetic blend 5w30? It's okay stuff. If you have a gasser that takes 5w30 that's what it come factory filled with. If you have like a shelby or something like that it's factory filled with synthetic. Nothing wrong with the synthetic blend. Depending on your driving habits will determine how long it lasts and how much it protects your engine.

Rotella is good. AMSOIL works better around here. A lot of guys were running Rotella in their 18 wheelers back when I worked on them in 2011. And most of those guys have switched to AMSOIL
