Great video mate. I’m planning to insulate my workshop and this has been really helpful as I’ve been struggling with making a decision on the insulation itself. My dog Molly liked seeing Archie in the video too!

Glad it was helpful. I like the sheep’s wool - really easy to work with. I reckon I’d choose it again for sure.

When I asked my neighbor if my machines bothered him, he asked me what machines I was talking about. I think I'm pretty lucky on that front.

My workshop is in my carport, but it was there when we moved into the house last year. There was a horrible weed/vine that had to be cutdown and removed that was growing up the side and on top of the roof, and now its gone it is obvious how badly it has damaged the old roof. Right now in Australia it's winter and rainy season where I live, and a few days of heavy rain has shown that the roof has lots of leaks. Looks like they didn't put the roofing on properly because it isn't at enough of an angle to drain properly. Some of the roofing is that see-through stuff, which has become dirty and brittle over the years, and the rain pools up on those bits making me worry it will collapse. Guess I have a big job of reroofing to do once the rain stops!

When it comes to sound, heavier means better. Heavy materials are excelent in reducing the noise. That wool you used does not look heavy so Im not suprised with the result. Also you have huge opening under the door of your workshop. Try getting drop-down door seals to stop the noise from comming out.

As SteveStevieboy stated the angle on the gate brace is to close to horizontal to be truly effective. Needs to be attached to the vertical at the hinge! And be 45 or sharper angle. Also the wood siding (clap board) is installed upside down.. lol. Probably won’t matter much though in your setting. But hey, if it basically does the job, good going!

Nice job Pete looks wicked thought that last one you was making a wool dog bed for Archie. If you need do it bit more for not allot a no people that have used rock wool(sheep in your case ) and the egg trays that hold 30 eggs there pretty cheap to. So we can expect see new toys in next video 😀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

I am very conscious of how loud some power tools are, and I don't even own a table saw, which is possibly the loudest of them all. I don't want to annoy my neighbours! Excellent chart too, I had never heard of Sisal wool before.

@northernworks

125mm, from Howarths here in Manchester
@spongefactory
@spongefactory 6 ай бұрын
@@northernworks Cheers Pete, confusion (on my part) over the sizes. Wickes sell 11mm (which is what I was after). Local merchants sell 22mm (which I thought would be too chunky) at loads cheaper than Wickes. Took a punt and their quoted size is for the single board that's cut at an angle to make 2 tapered boards. The local stuff is perfect.
@northernworks

Another great video Pete. I loved the chart and comparison instead of just picking one and starting straight off. I’m lucky as I’ve got natures soundproofing - 3 deaf elderly neighbours. I do however limit which tools I use on a night and try to make no noise after 8 so I don’t bother the wider street.
@northernworks
@northernworks 6 ай бұрын
I dream of deaf neighbours. To be fair, the whole street is pretty handy so there’s always a saw going somewhere. Plus next door but one runs an afterschool child minding service that is way noisier than anything I do 😂
