Teachers always thought you were about to make a snowball to throw it, which was strictly forbidden. We had hiding places for snowballs everywhere. Pretty stupid now thinking about it... A hiding places for something that literally fell from the sky every day... Yeah... My school was weird...

Man, the school stories brought up a memory for me in which I was punished with some others for chasing down a classmate who had left the room while the teacher was gone. We had been EXPLICITLY told not to leave the room or everyone would get in trouble, so a couple friends and I took it upon ourselves to chase down and bring back our wayward rogue of a classmate. The most unjust telling off I ever received.

There was a small concentrated resurgence of backslang in the late 1990s. It was used by the kids at the secondary school of a PE teacher acquaintance. I remember it used to drive him up the wall.
