Even having a thin crown with a solid frontal third is fine as concealers work wonders in the crown area (providing some hair is present). If you have a good hairline you can always slick the hair back like you said. I’m a Norwood 2-3 (been this way for 10 years since my late teens) but I would probably fill in the temple in a few years when I hit 30 to see where things are heading in terms of progression. Despite my slow rate of loss I’m currently taking Finasteride as my hair-loss could accelerate as I’m still young (27) I remember when my temples receded around ages 16-17… it happened very quickly, within months actually, but luckily I didn’t lose much more but I know it could definitely start speed up again. I will admit, I am somewhat on the fence regarding what method (FUT or FUE) to go with but am definitely nudging towards the FUT at least for the hairline as I would want the best, most robust grafts for that area and if I have exhausted my FUT capacity then there’s always an FUE procedure in the “Bank” if needed

When are they gonna invent the sequel to Finasteride. A finasteride 2 that blocks 99% dht would go crazy

I would have some caution about blocking all DHT. There is a lot we don't know about it, and there are androgen receptors all over the body. There is preliminary evidence that DHT level is related to risk of alzheimers/parkinsons (which may be why women are 3 times more likely to get these conditions than men). A 2020 review by Traish entitled "Health risks associated with long-term finasteride and dutasteride use: it's time to sound the alarm" covers other possible consequences of chronic DHT reduction. I certainly do not intend to be alarmist, or suggest that we should not be using these drugs for hair loss at all. But at the same time it is still a good thing to keep in mind that it is relatively early days when it comes to understanding the full significance of DHT in the body and we should not be completely blindsided by the benefits. In any case, DHT blocking is not the be all and end all; there is a limit to the extent that it can reverse AGA. What we ideally want are new treatments with different modalities, which may even eliminate the need for DHT blocking at all. For example, cloning of DHT resistant hairs, or treatments that can periodically stimulate the generation of hair follicles.

@@ivangamer8022 it actually inhibits 5ar enzymes in your body, which reduces the conversion from test to dht through the 5ar pathway, the main pathway that dht is made. So in fact, you end up with slightly more testosterone but it’s a small amount. The body will balance this over time, sometimes via aromatising some of that test to estrogen which is probably where the side effects come from. I take dutasteride, which inhibits even more dht, and my sex drive has increased since starting. Likely due to the more dht blocked means more test increase.

⁠@@ivangamer8022 it suppresses DHT and not testosterone. The side effects for some people are due to increase in estrogen when you start finasteride. So, some Testosterone is converted to DHT by enzymes and some is converted to estrogen. Finasteride blocks conversion of testosterone to DHT, so the extra testosterone might be converted to estrogen instead when we just start finasteride. This excess estrogen might cause some issues in some people. But it will stabilize in a few weeks and it might result in a slight increase in testosterone actually.

​@ivangamer8022 bullshit 😂 finasteride doesnt affect testosterone it has a direct impact on the 5 alpha reductase, instead fin turns testosterone levels up blocking its conversion into dht.
