You can get a Maurice Lacroix Aikon watch that looks very similar to the Royal Oak. At $2000 it isn't exactly a budget watch like the Tissot PRX. I've always wanted to handle and try on a Patek Philippe Nautilus, and a month ago, I was able to. And it was definitely very disappointing. It was very thin and more dressy, which was nice, but I would much rather have 100k in my bank account than it. I was actually more impressed when I tried on a Royal Oak and a VC Overseas. WE want to buy it for the name, history and the sudden awe from people recognizing it and think you're the dog's bollock for having one. Most that have it, have FU money to throw around. And let's be honest so does Rolex owners. they might argue it's a functional watch, so does Garmin too. and let's not start it with the Jacob & Co lovers. The epitome of "more money than sense" and people hated Hublot owners. Normal people like us, we wear watches that intrigues and looks great to each taste of our own, and most importantly doesn't require us to sell a house or sell our soul to the devil to get one. Although, by any chance a disgusting pile of wealth comes my way or yours, I won't hesitate to own one and I won't judge others for doing so.
