It's completely possible to be chic regardless bodyshape, size, age and budget. Being larger is not an excuse to look frumpy. Just when I thought I couldn’t admire you any more you go and make a video for the larger lady - credit to you, Marie-Anne! These ladies are forgotten by the British fashion industry and most of the Press and two of my friends have been so upset over the years because even though they have successful careers they feel dowdy (not at all feminine) since their menopausal weight gain. So thank you for your kind heart and ‘inclusive’ nature and I’ve sent my friends the link to your video. xx

One fashion tip a British fashion expert gave a larger lady is NEVER, EVER carry a small handbag: it will only accentuate your size. Instead, carry a large handbag at all times and (miraculously) your body shape/size will look in proportion. Works like magic.

The same rules apply. Just tailor the clothes to your specific proportions. e.g. The right raincoat can be tailored to fit your body. And the black suit (shown in vid) w/ pants that are slightly wider than a straight leg. These pants are universally flattering.

Thank you, but with few exceptions. Wide leg pants for 5' 4" do not look good unless very soft jersey material is used. If i get taylored pants that fit around my waist, they would be 2 sizes too big for hips and legs, thus petite size that fits hips, elastic to get around the waist. The black sleeveless dress that “shows off your shoulders” does not work for many plus sized women because their upper arms are flabby. I wish there were more dresses that cover or camouflage the upper arms.
@emmsue10537 ай бұрын
Thanks for saying this! Even just below elbow would be good.. Designers also assume all women of a certain age are a certain standard shape too.
@MarieAnneLecoeur7 ай бұрын
Bonjour Suzanne thank you for your comment. Very many plus size ladies have super arms and shoulders. There is a difference I think between flabby and plus size but toned. I have seen so many lovely larger ladies rocking this sleeveless dress that it can't be a coincidence. Sadly I see so many beautiful plus size ladies being told they can't wear this and they can't wear that simply because they are plus size - the fashion industry and very many others want to relegate plus size ladies to the back of the room wearing 'cover everything' clothing and be invisible... well that is not good enough for my Lovely Larger Ladies. Pay particular attention to the first tip - find something to love about yourself and emphasise that is what I say 😃🙏

Simplicity brought back their original DVF wrap dress pattern and it goes up to a size 24! That said, it's a reproduction of the 70s pattern so the 24 is probably a 20 or 22. But it shouldn't be hard to make it a couple of sizes larger.

I’m 73 and I’ve been fighting weight since I was 12. I figure now that I’ve lost the battle, my best summer look is a pair of dark cotton pants, a tank top, some kind of loose topper, duster, kimono, whatever you want to call it, and a pair of matching flats. This is hard for me to wade through. I am plus sized and average height but not very plus sized and no boobs or waist. Worse, my tummy sticks out. Bonjour Janice, I use 50+ models as and when I can find them and would dearly like to use more. However it already takes a huge amount of time to find the royalty free images used and which fit the advice being given. It is not just a question of simply taking images off the net as very many are copyright and trying to get permission has proved impossible in the past. So, like all channels, I have to resort to finding images where and when I can. If more brands used 50+ models my job would be easier but sadly they don't 🙁

I always get frustrated with trying on clothes because I feel I don’t have any features I like. I’m a plus size girl with broad shoulders and upper width in my chest but average to small bust. On top of that I have a VERY long rectangle torso with a big stomach (thanks pcos) and short muscular legs. I feel like my only redeeming feature is my butt and face.💀

Bonjour Amanda - you identify the very best feature to make the focus of all your outfits - your lovely face. Make sure you have central, vertical elements in your outfits such as a 'column of colour' as explained in this and other videos of mine and keep a smile on your face. That way, everyone who sees you will be attracted to your smile and beautiful face - from that point you have them hooked on you 🤗 et voila - that is all that style is 😘
