Can you use a controller with LUBA

It's not quite possible yet but it seems like it should be easy to implement! All they need to do is map the joysticks of the controller input to the movement in the arrow keypad to move the cursor around the screen.

Can't beat a good piece of click bait. Well done 🙂 Speaking as a programmer, their software would have to include options for using external input to replace the on screen controls. Not difficult for them to add, but without it there's no chance of getting anything working.

I would love to see you test your Luba by blocking the GPS on the mower! I did it on Luba 2 and had requests to compare the results to Luba 1 and I know you could make a better video than me.

I could test that but I think I already know how it would react... If GPS is lost on Luba 1 side it should pause immediately If RTK is suddenly lost It should pause after about 100 ft-ish

@@Crazypostman That's what I was thinking too, but interestingly, mine went about 120 feet before vision turned on. I think that's just a failure of the aluminum foil to block the signal, but it was still surprising. I folded the foil twice, so it should have been 4 layers thick.

@@RobotMowerTricks yeah that sounds right It used the saved RTK positioning for 120 ft after the loss and when that information got stale it switched over to vision and went a little further. I'm halfway thinking that it's still using the same stale RTK information even after 120 ft when it says It switches over to vision because the information is still good for that amount of time I think. I think the vision is mainly an obstacle avoidance helper and not so much a make straight lines helper if that makes sense.

@@Crazypostman Maybe that's true, but I'm not so sure. That's where blocking the satellites on the Luba directly comes in. Your theory makes sense when unplugging RTK. But if you are covering the Satelites on the mower itself then the RTK info (stale or not) is not going to help? Deadreckoning could come into play but that seems like a selling feature they would want to advertise if they are using it. I could try to see if there's a way to fake the camera so it doesn't think it's dark, but it also can't see the lawn?

Apple would have an API for third party apps like this one to enable interfacing with such gadgets, would be up to Mammotion to utilise it and make it function.

Hmmmmm... I think I could program this.... Great thought as could use an old phone as a permanent controller for it and it could boot straight into the app so it'd be pretty seamless. Only question would be there's no point if mammotion could just update their app and save me the time - in effect all we'd need is them to add hotkey options to each of the direction controls (I strongly suspect these aren't technically legal already given accessibility laws, so it's be a sensible addition regardless)

I could see them adding external controllers if there were some form of common communication protocol for all the hardware. Otherwise, what hardware would they program their app to interface with? I really don't know the answer to this, just asking.....?

Android has a generic controller profile. This one I'm using is completely passive It's not powered or anything

Do you know programing to wtite so it can interface with the mower app? I wouldn't say its disabled, or not enabled because I don't know programming.

We can put a man on the moon, why can't Luba be controlled by a game controller? Beats me, but for now, I'd guess they hadn't thought about it at the time of development. But, now, with your suggestion, maybe an update will be pushed down in the coming months? Especially, since some of the Luba app is responding to the controller, so clearly, the electrons are flowing up and down stream. Just think of it: you can be doing the lawn thing, then come out of the app, and start playing whatever game is on your phone and you don't even have to swap hardware (or get up from the lawn chair to go and get the game). Here's wishing.
