The LCA scale has some great features (peak weight and holding weight), but don't be fooled into thinking that it's not a special run of a hand held scale from the same factory that manufactures those "luggage" scales that look just like it. I have an LCA and I like it. If all you need is peak weight the "luggage" scale will do fine, just remove the strap and the triangle shaped bail and add a locking quick link (of the appropriate working load) to the rigid loop that attaches to the strain gauge. The LCA has some great feature, like I said, but don't let the label fool you into the assumption that the luggage scale cannot do the job. LCA used to sell a bow scale that was a lot like the one made for OMP (the ones that were recalled). The new LCA Bow Scale 2.0 now has a hook, but the original one had a snap link that was not rated to the working load. Even in their product literature it showed a picture of the scale in operation and the snap link was elongating to the point that the gate was no longer in contact with the opposite end. Here's a link to the old one and you can see the snap link in one of the photos: walesarchery.com/products/lastchancelcabowscale LCA makes great presses and they brought a draw scale to the market specifically for archery, but don't for a moment think that anything but the readout and attachment point are much different from the $12.95 scale on Amazon.

Take the strap off the luggage scale and rig up a metal hook for easier shorter more accurate drawing. PS You talk way too much!

Damn I wish you used the luggage scale that looks exactly like the Last Chance bow scale. I see it on Amazon for $10.00. There are multiple versions of it with different names.

If some of you decide to go for the luggage scale, pick one that has a well placed "tare" button. That way you don't have to hold it, just press the tare button.

only con I see besides accuracy applies to compounds. You have to make sure that you don't lose your peak weight, because compounds have let offs in which they hold a lot less weight, in this case you would probably want to get as close to your peak weight as possible, that way you get a sense of what you can handle, arrow spine requirement etc.

My luggage scales read about 4lbs over when I go above 30lbs and this increases with weight.

I've used the last chance archery scale and got about 4 lbs variance. Kind of tough to calculate 5 grs per pound with readings like that. Low battery? Defective model? I don't know. but it kind of puts a sour taste in my mouth about the last chance scale

The expression when describing the luggage scale pretty much condemned it at the beginning. That killed this video for me. The luggage scale used was not a very good representative of what's available. There are a lot of scales to chose from, industrial, commercial, fishing and hunting just to name a few. So... 2 dedicated bow scales against 1 poor choice of luggage scale does not represent a good comparison. I would have liked to see a drawing board used to compare them. Yes they are cumbersome and not used that much but very important when setting up and tuning. But, if you have used a hand held scale for awhile and are confident enough with the accuracy , they are very quick and easy to use. I think the accuracy is one of the most important features for a scale because we are talking of measuring less than a pound when testing draw weight and adjusting the limbs. So, no matter what you use it should have a hold feature(if using a hand held) and be accurate. Not to be completely on the down side of this video, I appreciate the time and effort to make this video and I hope the videos keep on coming. Thanks WM

You're holding it there for like two seconds...That must have been absolutely exhausting :| Stop complaining please. As for the safety, one could easily replace the strap for a metal hook like on the "special" digital one. All that remains is the precision, which to be fair, doesn't look bad at all to me. That's all that counts. I would gladly buy the 10$ one versus a £64.99 GBP that gives me the same result. But, thank you for the comparison, it's useful. Although, to be fair, you should have compared a few more models of luggage scales with a few more archery scales. It would have been more interesting to see more results.

Luggage scale is much harder on a compound bow, because theres 2 weights to record, peak and holding. Luggage scale will only record one
