You really picked the board trend a year ago. Well done!

Thanks for the shoutout, John 🤙🏽. I’ve always preferred riding bigger boards. This board is still going strong and my go to board for prone and wing.

Hey! learning from your videos! What is the main difference you feel when surfing on a 73 liter and on a prone foil board like somewhen on the 40L ? I'm in the beginning steps and it's getting very hard with my 34L board :(. I'm thinking of getting a wing foil board somewhere in the 70L, but I don´t know if it's going to be good for surf oil. Where I'm the wave conditions are very similar to the ones in the video!. Thank you Lance for the advice!

Hi Bruno! Thank you so much for watching the videos and im happy to hear your getting something out of them 🙏🏽. Main difference is it will be ALOT easier to catch waves on a 70L wing board used as a prone board. Especially if the conditions are similar to mine here. Main benefits are Will be able to paddle into more waves Wont be fatigued from paddling or attempting to get waves on a higher volume wing board. Will have more opportunities to get more waves. You should buy one. 70 L would be good I even struggle and have shorter sessions when i ride prone boards under 40Liters. Any other questions just ask. Thanks Bruno 🤙🏽

Very nice. Are you happy with how it turned out? What changes would you make if any?
@Lanceisoutside2 жыл бұрын
So pleased with how it turned out for both Prone and Wing foiling. Wouldn’t change a thing. But i was suprised how much of a sinker it is for waterstarts with the wing. It’s hard to balance on my knees to get going. Wants to nose up or pearl dive if you are not being pulled by wing. Has a small balance point and doesn’t hold a waterline well for my weight. 200lbs. Perfect board for me and my riding style. Love it!

@@Lanceisoutside Super rad! 18-1/2" wide is the narrowest I have seen, so I imagine that balancing it would be a challenge! Glad you love it, nothing beats riding something you built with your own 2 hands!

Have you ever done prone surf before?
@Lanceisoutside2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I Did it for years before i got into foilsurfing. I still enjoy it.

this is a great idea! do you reckon for these size waves something around 1300 is optimal, or would i be able to ride 1500 and 1800?
@Lanceisoutside2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, would be good for all those sizes. I was riding my 1300 on this day. Was perfect for me.

So smooth! How does that pnl compare to your RS 1150?
@Lanceisoutside2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Kevin! PNL has amazing pump and lift. So does the RS1150 for its size. It just takes alot more exertion and energy pumping it. I use my PNL for prone,sup and winging. I use my 1150 when the waves are bigger and when the wind is really strong. 1150 turns fast and tight. I can ride 1150 in well overhead high to tiny surf. PNL is 1305cm. My go to wing.
@kevinshy19332 жыл бұрын
@@Lanceisoutside I prone & downwind sup on the 1150. Prone on the 1000 when it's overhead. Just wondered if I could use the Pnl on marginal days. Keep the videos coming 🤙
@Lanceisoutside2 жыл бұрын
The PNL definitely is excellent for marginal/small days on prone and DW. Feels similar to the rs1150. Just bigger. Im around 195-200 lbs and has the lift I prefer. And works very well for my local conditions which are usually 1-4 ft. Thanks for watching the videos and commenting! I love geeking out on foiling. Where do you live?

your board is customised..It is hard to find production board narrower than 22”-23” wide that is 65-70 L & below 5’ (need shorter for easier airline traveling) yours is 18.5” wide @ 5’4”..which is much easier to paddle to catch waves..thanks.
@Lanceisoutside Жыл бұрын
Yes, my board is customized. Like all my other ones. Im not sure if its hard to find a board that you are looking for. But i think you can find one. Because they are making them more narrow now. That is the trend now. Good luck.

Omen Flux is the best board on the market today for these considerations (narrow/long, easy get up)
@Lanceisoutside11 ай бұрын
@Fjordjumper that board looks nice. I remember seeing kane riding it. It reminds me of some of my first few foilboards i made with that square tail and pill shape. What state or country do you foil in?

@@Lanceisoutside Nice. I just ordered a Flux board yesterday. Yeah, your board designs look nice and sleek.Great job! I also want to commend you on your videos. I particularly love the one of you just practicing your turns. Such a good idea, and what people need to see. I foil on Lake Michigan, live in Chicago. Where are you located?

Comments like these really make my day and inspire me. Cheers mate! I appreciate it. I try to keep it raw and real as possible. Not just flashy short segment clips of gnarley stuff. Im here in south Texas where there is wind and waves year round. Corpus Christi. And pretty much zero foilers here. Which is mind blowing to me.

Guys like you practicing among normal surfers on a normal surf spot scare the hell out of me, you are the reason why I'm considering wearing a helmet - I mean you are quite skillful and a well-experienced surfer but still, that foil can do severe injuries to other people. A friend of mine got nearly killed by an inexperienced foil surfer at a crowded spot., plastic surgery on his face. Why the hell can't you practice foiling on an uncrowded beach?!!
@Lanceisoutside7 ай бұрын
Greetings regular surfer, first off thanks for watching at least some of my video. I guess youre interested in foiling somewhat. You would love it. If you actually watched the whole video, you will notice i am sitting away from the traditional surfers. Im sitting in an area Paddling into and riding waves they have no interest in because they cant ride them. Never do i take off in a pack of surfers or ride through any in this video. They are all in the distance. You see them paddling back out in the channel. Looks can be deceiving from the camera angle. I do my best to stay away from any surfers as much as possible. I have my camera on a jetty and am surfing as close as i can to it for filming purposes. Ive been foiling for over 9 years now and im still alive. And so is everyone else. No stitches or other deaths to speak of. Your shortboard fins are sharper than a hydrofoil wing. So calm down there Mr. Barry. Im having trouble believing you’re considering getting a helment because there’s armed and dangerous hydrofoilers all over your surfing going everywhere and not having respect or common sense. (And your friend story as well) Ive never seen someone trying to learn foilsurfing in front of a surfing lineup. People are afraid to humiliate or embarrass themselves in front of others when it comes to learning to foil. Foils are not razor sharp like surfers seem to think they are. Where do you surf sir? Peace be with you, Barry or David.
@David-xm6qn7 ай бұрын
@@Lanceisoutside Thank you for your insightful and detailed answer. That is a different perspective. I watched the video again and yes you are right, looks can be deceiving, and you are obviously quite skilled and considerate. So a beginner on an epoxy longboard would maybe a bigger danger. I give you that and have to apologize. I was overreacting. And yes, it's not only the foil surfers that bring me to the idea of wearing a surf helmet - it is more about crowded spots in general. So you got me there ;=). Presently, I am surfing in Peru, Chicama, lots of wing foiler here. But there is plenty of space and they are normally far out. I surfed in Imsouane, Morocco not all foil surfers there were as good as you are (whipping out when trying to catch a wave, foil flying) and the spot is normally packed, with many beginners. Surfboard fins are sharp, yes, but a flying foil is a different story, isn´t it? I mean there must be a reason why a lot of the foil (and wing foil) surfers wear helmets and some even impact vests. I have never seen a surfer with an impact vest (I talk about mortals here, not crazy big wave surfers) But here in Chicama almost every wing foiler wears a thick vest and a helmet and they are good - no beginners. But anyhow - thanks for your answer. Wish ya all the best. David

@David-xm6qn hi David, thank you for your response :) Wow Chicama, Peru and Morrocco. Two amazing looking places i hope to travel to in my lifetime. Look great for watersports. I understand where you’re coming from with foils in crowded lineups. At alot of surfing locations, everyone has to kind of be close to each other with the takeoff zone only being in a certain place. Crowded locations as well. Those conflicts are bound to happen. Yes, some spots are not ideal for foilers of any level with crowded lineups. Some days here at this spot in my video- when its super crowded and small. I wont go out. I go down the beach where it may not be as good but there are zero people. Sandbar breaks here. Waves all up and down the coastline 🙏🏽. I just hope all foilers and surfers and other water enthusiasts can continue or learn to be considerate, respectful and aware of each other on the water. Im thinking most of the wing foilers and surf foilers in chicama wear helmets and impact vests because of the big waves and possibly of the foil coming in contact with the body when they fall? And wingers who do alot of freestyle riding like jumping and flips tend to wear helmets. Wishing you great sessions on the water, David. 🤙🏽 Sincerely, Lance here in Texas. Peace be with you.
