I have said this for years but elk are terrifying. They’re huge, their antlers are even huger and deadlier, and they make that freak ass screaming noise. Like imagine walking through a forest at night and it’s completely silent, until you hear THAT scream pierce the silence. Elk. Are. Horrifying.

9:50 to answer your question that is an elk bugle. Bulls (males) will bugle in the mating season, which is generally late summer into early fall. (Late August thru September). They bugle to display dominance and to attract cows (females). Look it up.
