For the purpose of points and selection, it's almost mandatory. Otherwise, you wouldn't score enough.

hey buddy i have a question, i hope u can help me with that. imagine this situation, i will be going to winnipeg on study permit with my wife on open work permit, i already have insurance with my college but my wife does not have any insurance so i assume we need to buy a insurance, however is not reasonable to purchase an insurance for 1 year if she can apply to manitoba healtcard or if she gets a job which its the ideal she will get a coverage, i asked this question to immigration and they said they did not know and told me to ask to border agency something like that, which i did too and they told me immigration should know so here i am haha. i want to buy a medical insurance because u know shit happens but the reasonable length for me is 3 months. by any chance do u know if i would have any issue in the airport with the border official
