Can you clarify what you mean they are using French as escape in order to increase the competitiveness of express entry pool (because of CEC and STEM) and lower express entry numbers? I think I get what you mean, but not really as an escape, but more as a political move for French Canadians (also being bilingual is nice for jobs), but how will this lower express entry numbers?

Hi Sahil, How will EE profile differentiate between FSW already residing in Canada versus those outside of Canada because of the recentIN-CANADA FOCUS PATHWAY (SINCE FSW IS MOSTLY FOR PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF CANADA).

French is not going anywhere, regardless. It is one of the official languages of Canada.

@@d16024it may not go away. But the levels allocated to it may reduce. Conservatives may lower numbers even further and may decide the current French levels outside Quebec don’t serve much purpose. And let’s be honest, you don’t NEED TO speak French outside Quebec. Nonetheless, combined with good English scores, French should get good candidates across the line.

@@Haxerous that’s the point I was making. But I still think a borderline profile currently in 430-460+ will benefit from French over the long term. I think the conservatives will reduc French allocation though (including overall PRs to 300k - 350k per year.

@Theworldisafamily68 I just hope they have a more logical policy when it comes to this. The idea that these french speakers will settle in french/bilingual towns outside Quebec is a bit of stretch. Most of them will move to big cities in Anglo-Canada or go straight to Quebec eventually. It's still early days, but if substantial numbers start moving to Quebec they will make a fuss about it as Quebec is already somewhat annoyed by EE people moving to Quebec and thereby eroding their control over migration. It would be better if they had a proper regional migration policy dedicated to french/bilingual towns similar to RNIP.

Hi Sayil I am currently working on relocating to Canada as a permanent resident through the Express Entry route. I have a 2 year old and I wouldn't want to travel with him to Canada just yet but join me after some years. When applying for permanent residence is it ok to still declare that I have a dependent whereas he won't be traveling with me??
