Wow, thank you very much for this video! I'm down in seattle right now and have been really wondering what this ride looks like. Absolutely beautiful. Those round tunnels are really cool! I hope we're able to just keep pushing for more lines. The skytrain is such a fundamental backbone for vancouver. I'm really looking forward to a UBC line. As a former student, I fully support that project!

because Vancouver's trains come 5 times as often, and it makes more sense to make lots of short trains rather than fewer long trains. And call it dinky all you want, its still the largest elevated rapid transit system in the world (this is even if you don't count the canada line, which is mostly underground)

Wow its beautiful. I called up my girlfriend today and she was so lucky being one of the first passengers to ride for "free". Some Canadians though parked their cars just to experience the thrill here. Seeing that train passing thru tunnel is like watching a sci fi movie... hahaha

No the Expo Line (aka Skytrain) was opened in 1986. This service just opened in August 2009.

Looks pretty good. The stations seem a little small, but I guess the capability to have high frequencies on the Canada Line should hopefully be enough to avoid overcrowding of the station platforms. Now if only they could find the money to create a SkyTrain subway line servicing the Broadway corridor out to UBC... Vancouver would finally have a great rail rapid transit "backbone" upon which streetcars and lightrail could be added in the future to enhance & strengthen that backbone.

Mike, by the way the red building with the arches and rounded skylights on the right side of the Marine Drive station was designed by my dad. :)

Looks great! Can't wait until we get the Elginton Crosstown in Toronto. I hope it's like the Canada Line!

I used to live in a city where 10 to 15 car trains comes every 3 minutes, which is Tokyo. Of course, you dont need those kind of service in Vancouver, but I think two car is way too short. At least they should have made the platforms and switches longer for the future. by the way, if you were out in Richmond or YVR, you have to wait for 12 minutes. Also 20 minutes after 11pm.

The trains still look like dinky Disneyland trains - 2 cars long! You go to any other city and their trains are really long and it looks like a REAL subway. Why does Vancouver insist on replicating The Simpson's monorail episode?
