Canadians deserve better than what Canada Post is offering. If you can’t serve the public with integrity and efficiency, perhaps it’s time to reconsider your role. We depend on reliable delivery of our mail and parcels, not to be held hostage to labor disputes. Using the busiest season of the year as leverage is not just unfair-it’s deeply unethical. As a small business owner, I would never take a customer’s money if I knew I couldn’t deliver what they paid for. Yet, here we are: you’ve taken our money, our parcels, and our trust, using them as bargaining chips.Forcing people to wait indefinitely for your ongoing negotiations is simply not efficient. Life doesn’t pause, and neither can our businesses or the need to send mail. This is not the way to earn the respect of the people you serve. We as your customers are disappointed, not just with Canada Post but with the unions too. It’s time to legislate workers back to work or offering us a alternative service during the disruption. We deserve better. Do better.

Canada Post Corporation had a year to put a serious offer on the table, the strike and lockout could have been avoided and can be ended by them at any time. They haven't at time of writing. Instead they hope to let public inconvenience and media fed outrage be the story that gives them the best chance at union busting with binding arbitration that keep Canadian wages low. For the less Holmsian in the "con" camp, that's *your* wages. The minister himself scolded the executive at Canada Post for inflexibility in the evolution of the company. Translation: wringing hands over decreasing mail volumes with no eye to expand services to compensate, like postal banking. The gov't just snapped out nearly 3 billion to another corporation and the public didn't know anything about it until it was all over. We can fund what our own gov't acknowledges as a public service never intended to be run for profit. Canadian postal workers stood in the breach for Canadians during Covid as essential workers when shopping at stores was difficult to impossible. They delivered, and at that time laid down their rights to collective bargaining to help their fellow Canadians weather the crisis, some laying down their lives for the effort. They've been without a renewed contract for years and nothing to combat the cost of living. These workers are Canadians, many of whom don't make enough to cover living expenses, some forced to purchase their own vehicles for delivery, having no company vehicle provided. Canadian workers owe it to nobody to live paycheck to paycheck or worse. They deserve our support.

You guys got some random old dude to speak who happens to have a masters in economics from 1974. Come on. This dude doesn't even understand. "It's a parcel company now, not a lettermail company." It's a service that is self funded by profits. Since 2018, CPC is permitted to re invest all profits into it's own service rather than giving it back to the government. CPC is mandated to deliver lettermail. They aren't FedEx or another private courier who was designed to be profitable. It's a service people. We don't audit the police or transit system. A 24% pay increase over 4 years, from a corporation that's already losing quite a bit of money...? Great, simply _shift_ the burden of higher prices onto other Canadians, who are often already struggling to pay those higher prices themselves. Hiding funds thru investing in 2023 so they cry a loss in 2024 during negotiations. Theres more to the negotiations than money. There health and safety, protection for pensions, benefits, equal pay for new employees, protection for postal service and if mismanagement is running the postal service into the ground what is happening with the employees. Maybe they’ve had enough and that’s why they’re on strike. CP has had a year to negotiate with the union on a contract but as always they drag their heels with the hopes of them being ordered back to work as they always are. Paying for overpriced envelopes, delivery fees, and salaries of executives that should have been fired without severance managers , supervisors .
