Canadians deserve better than what Canada Post is offering. If you can’t serve the public with integrity and efficiency, perhaps it’s time to reconsider your role. We depend on reliable delivery of our mail and parcels, not to be held hostage to labor disputes. Using the busiest season of the year as leverage is not just unfair-it’s deeply unethical. As a small business owner, I would never take a customer’s money if I knew I couldn’t deliver what they paid for. Yet, here we are: you’ve taken our money, our parcels, and our trust, using them as bargaining chips.Forcing people to wait indefinitely for your ongoing negotiations is simply not efficient. Life doesn’t pause, and neither can our businesses or the need to send mail. This is not the way to earn the respect of the people you serve. We as your customers are disappointed, not just with Canada Post but with the unions too. It’s time to legislate workers back to work or offering us a alternative service during the disruption. We deserve better. Do better.

Canada Post Corporation had a year to put a serious offer on the table, the strike and lockout could have been avoided and can be ended by them at any time. They haven't at time of writing. Instead they hope to let public inconvenience and media fed outrage be the story that gives them the best chance at union busting with binding arbitration that keep Canadian wages low. For the less Holmsian in the "con" camp, that's *your* wages. The minister himself scolded the executive at Canada Post for inflexibility in the evolution of the company. Translation: wringing hands over decreasing mail volumes with no eye to expand services to compensate, like postal banking. The gov't just snapped out nearly 3 billion to another corporation and the public didn't know anything about it until it was all over. We can fund what our own gov't acknowledges as a public service never intended to be run for profit. Canadian postal workers stood in the breach for Canadians during Covid as essential workers when shopping at stores was difficult to impossible. They delivered, and at that time laid down their rights to collective bargaining to help their fellow Canadians weather the crisis, some laying down their lives for the effort. They've been without a renewed contract for years and nothing to combat the cost of living. These workers are Canadians, many of whom don't make enough to cover living expenses, some forced to purchase their own vehicles for delivery, having no company vehicle provided. Canadian workers owe it to nobody to live paycheck to paycheck or worse. They deserve our support.

You guys got some random old dude to speak who happens to have a masters in economics from 1974. Come on. This dude doesn't even understand. "It's a parcel company now, not a lettermail company." It's a service that is self funded by profits. Since 2018, CPC is permitted to re invest all profits into it's own service rather than giving it back to the government. CPC is mandated to deliver lettermail. They aren't FedEx or another private courier who was designed to be profitable. It's a service people. We don't audit the police or transit system. Also, your taxes don't pay for Canada Post so don't worry.

True but what about those rural areas that all the small for profit private companies won't go to. CPC goes to them. Also, you'd be surprised by how much lettermail is actually sent. Just because it's down, does not mean it's obsolete. Businesses use lettermail in mass. The only thing that's really down is bills and personal letters that people used to send to eachother. That being said, there's still a ton of christmas cards. Also, Santa letters, which we do for free, is still huuuuge lol

A company that openly admits to investing back into the company by building a sorting plant. Then puts the cart before the horse and buys a fleet of EV’s that have sat in a parking lot for a year because they still need to put in charging stations… CP management lies and is running the postal service into the ground to line their own pockets and your mad at the people on strike? This is not about money to the workers. It’s also about health and safety, protecting pensions and benefits, equal wages for new employees and how CP wants them to do their job. The operation for courier as Canada Post ( government delivery organization ), basically involve 3 parts , the superior is Civic/customer , then the lower parties,Company and Worker union . If the strike as 2018 , rotation strike , the civic / customer affection were small , so we didn’t care the strike . But the strike in this time , these two lower parties compete for own gain profit to hurt and sacrifice the superior part, civic/customer . So we must fire the Canada Post Company and worker union . A 24% pay increase over 4 years, from a corporation that's already losing quite a bit of money...? Great, simply _shift_ the burden of higher prices onto other Canadians, who are often already struggling to pay those higher prices themselves. Postal workers shouldn't assume that everyone will come back to use the service again after they've been screwed this way. How many jobs do they want to see cut, in the aftermath of the strike? I know not to allow anything else to fall into the hands of Canada Post, but if my belongings are held hostage in this labor dispute for even a few weeks, it will be years before I trust Canada Post with my parcels again. At this point I'm just about ready to write off Canada Post. Just give me my parcels.

Government needs to do an audit and investigate. Cries a loss but in 2023 brags about investing in building a sorting plant and a fleet of EV’s. The same EV’s that have been sitting in a parking lot for a year or more because they didn’t put in charging stations. Mismanagement? Hiding funds thru investing in 2023 so they cry a loss in 2024 during negotiations. Theres more to the negotiations than money. There health and safety, protection for pensions, benefits, equal pay for new employees, protection for postal service and if mismanagement is running the postal service into the ground what is happening with the employees. Maybe they’ve had enough and that’s why they’re on strike. CP has had a year to negotiate with the union on a contract but as always they drag their heels with the hopes of them being ordered back to work as they always are. Maybe we should just let them do their thing without judgment. It’s Christmas time, they’re on strike with families and no pay or benefits. It’s a serious situation and more to it than what’s on the news.

Canada Post employees had every opportunity to go on strike well before a month and a half apx before Christmas! The union is not complcite in this iether! Know that Canada Post has lost over 3 billion dollars in the last 3 years they actually believe that asking for more is reasonable! As for the comment by a union official that taxpayers do not pay Canada Post wages and salary maybe they should retink that or recant that statement! Without buying stamps at inflated prices ! Paying for overpriced envelopes, delivery fees, and salaries of executives that should have been fired without severance managers , supervisors . As for the outside and inside employees , some have part times job like working at a golf course, not for the money but for golf privileges that don't show up for their schedules there at times. If those union officials and union members haven't noticed, you are losing rapidly any type of support or sympathy . Go back work which you have paid well for and stop holding those who are colateral damage in this hostage !

@LaSenzas

So your all for a company who only cries poor at negotiation time? Who drags its heels hoping the government will step in and tell them to get back to work like they always have.? Who cries a loss but the CEO is fine with accepting his over 400,000 salary and gives everyone above the workers on strike a yearly bonus? A company that openly admits to investing back into the company by building a sorting plant. Then puts the cart before the horse and buys a fleet of EV’s that have sat in a parking lot for a year because they still need to put in charging stations… CP management lies and is running the postal service into the ground to line their own pockets and your mad at the people on strike? This is not about money to the workers. It’s also about health and safety and how CP wants them to do their job. Cp is not only running the company into the ground they are trying to do the same to their employees. There is more to it than what you see on the news.

@@LaSenzas be happy you have a job making well over minimum wage ! With benefits too ! Your job requires 0 education or qualifications. Yes a boss will always make significantly more than everyone. Always ..

@@Ladybug83me it’s more than about money or do you not know what negotiations are about? There protecting jobs, health and safety, protecting pensions and benefits and other things that CUPW has already won thru the years like maternity leave etc. They loose those things other workers can expect to loose them things as well. If the job was so easy there wouldn’t be such a high turnover rate of employees and the injury rate wouldn’t be the worst of any job in Canada. People need to research and not just except what’s being told on the news.

Time to sell Canada Post and let a private company run this .... Let them lean it and make it profitable and affordable. They want a raise and they are loosing hundreds of Millions ?? Thats like trying to do an Ocean Voyage on a Sinking Vessel . It just don't work !! 😕😕

If it’s privatized, the company might make money by overcharging us triple the price . It’s the public who gets hurt . It’s not a good idea

Private is not the answer and giving raises when CP is bleeding money ain’t the answer either. Reduce overhead, management and employee side , reduce service to fit the needs of today( ie 3 days a week delivery) it’s the only to survive. They should consider themselves lucky they still have jobs… simple fact, people don’t physically mail things as much as they used to. Get rid of the union too - they not doing you any favours .
