I am so glad the RCAF are getting the Block 4 version, over the original block 1. We would be replacing those $200 M aircraft in a few years for a light speed version at $70M?

Our incompetent Trudeau government cancelled the previous Harper governments order of the F-35 saying it’s too expensive only to choose the F-35 8 years later 😣, this is gross incompetence 🤮

Don't forget to mention they are now paying considerably more also, our so called leader is a complete imbecile.

Harper wanted 64 block A F-35 in a no contest contract. Our current contract, after competitive bids, is for 88 block 4 F-35 at a lower per unit cost. Gross incompetence is right.

when do you clowns wake up Trudeau never cancelled the F 35. in fact only Harper did prior to the 2010 election. Trudeau said he would not reorder until a competition was run. It took far too long but the RCAF got what they wanted. Not actually knowing what occurred is a symptom of reform politicos. Sad really

Elon Musk just sais the F35 Program was obsolete and want to cut it. Will Canada buy a already obsolete Fighter jet. My choice is the F15 revamp.

Yes they will be obsolete as soon as they roll off the assembly line. A fighter jet is basically a big flying computer and we all know how quickly a computer becomes obsolete. Just look at the clunker on you desk. Canada should invest and become a partner in the new Saab-BAE sixth generation jet now being designed.

Yes the Harper Government bought these over priced things but Trudeau tried to cancel the order . too bad there is a No Back out clause in the contract so when we receive these things and it turns out to be a Balsa Wood toy with a technological Advanced Rubber Band ! You still owe several Billion dollars . Why didn't they Buy the F-16
@anthonysaunders34524 күн бұрын
Actually, the F-35s are now cheaper than many of the their competitors. They are also extremely capable aircraft and integrate seamlessly with other NATO forces. We didn't buy F-16s because that wouldn't be updating our fleet. The F-18s we have aren't any older than the F-16s. You really ought to do some homework on this subject before commenting.

@@anthonysaunders345 Dead wrong. The F35 isn't just about the sticker price, the upkeep and infrastructure are very expensive. The F35 is also technically complex compared to other fighters and is grounded half the time. Most other countries are only getting a few, except those with exceptional technical capacity like Japan. Better to get a high/low mix.
@anthonysaunders34523 күн бұрын
@@ASpyNamedJames You think it's more than just about price and it's technically very complex?. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. The more complex the technology the more expensive and comlplex it is. That doesn't mean it isn't the best fit for the application. Still, the sticker price per vehicle and its associated costs keep coming down, making it competitive with the other jets Canada was considering. As far as the number ordered by other nations, it is the most-ordered jet in the history of stealth air-defense. More are being made than all other stealth jets from other countries combined. I assume by "grounded half the time" you're referring to either Mission Capability Readiness (MCR) or the stricter measure Fully Mission Capability Readiness (FMCR). As a basis for comparison, the F-22, F-16 and F-18s all score lower. Regardless, these numbers keeps going up as the F-35 is integrated into various airforces. As for a high/low mix, I have no idea what you're talking about and I suspect you don't either.

Harper had a sweet deal lined up where parts would have been manufactured in Canada. Trudeau cancelled the contract costing us billions to cancel and years later decided to buy the F-35 without the previous perks.
