winning gold in mens and womens hockey in 2010 and 2014 was probably one of the biggest highlights in canadian olympic history
@MrSprigg3 жыл бұрын
2002 was bigger, because it had been 50 years, and the Canadian women weren't expected to beat the USA team. They did, despite some truly bad officiating, and then the men took the gold two days later in a dominant 5-2 performance over the Americans. 2010 doesn't come close to 2002 in terms of emotional power.
@funnyperson40273 жыл бұрын

@@MrSprigg 2010 was better. We lost to USA in the round robin. We blew the lead with 24 seconds left, went into overtime and one of the greatest players ever finally stepped up after a lacklustre tournament to give us the gold medal. Things like that only occur in movies.
@MrSprigg Жыл бұрын
@@lovejotted 2010 is at best third all-time on the Canadian hockey scene. 1972 tops everything. EVERYTHING. No debate is possible on that, because without 1972 there is no 2010 or any other great international hockey moments of the past 50 years. No Miracle on Ice, no Canada Cup, no pros in the Olympics again. Anyone who doesn't put 1972 at the top of the list is wrong, end of discussion. 2002 tops 2010 for the reasons I gave earlier; fifty years after winning Olympic gold in 1952, the impossible odds the women were given, and the sheer magnitude of that gold medal game. 2010 was 'Yay, we won again!'. 2002 was 'WE FINALLY WON!!!!!!!' If you weren't there, then you can't understand. 1987 is the other contender for third place, watching Gretzky and Lemieux do what they did in that final series against the Soviets. That was probably the best three-game span of hockey I have ever seen in my life. I would put it ahead of 2010, but I will listen to arguments to the contrary. But 2002 and 1972 are untouchable.
@lovejotted Жыл бұрын
