I once rode the Turbo Montréal to Kingston, and came back from Kingston on the first commercial LRC ride. ( the banki ng system still worked, the doors didn't open mid trip, wheels didn't fall off yet :-) Alas. MLW who built the Turbo and the LRC was absorbed into Bombardier which hasn't been able to build new trains in a few years and will cease to exist this year. VIA will get d heavy steel coaches adapted from light European designs to meet heavy steel FRA standards and slow heavy diesel locos in a few year sso we are stuck for at least 40 years without high speed trains and with rear facing seats.

I recall that eating with knife and fork on the train was quite difficult because of the severe vibrations.
