Education is free in Canada (grants and non-refundable tax credits). It's complicated to understand what the government has done to make education free in the end; Canada is a complicated country.

Not entirely free. You do get the tax credit, and the terms of student loans are pretty good. But you can still end up with thousands of dollars in debt, and all the tax credits do is save you 20% by not paying taxes on that money. So it is a pretty good system. But I wouldn't call it free.

@@OliverFoote Are you kidding me??? No tax credits??? Please don't talk about taxes. Dude, do the math. Grants, which every student gets in Canada. And pretty much tuition fees in most colleges or universities are covered only by allocated grants, depending on the Endowment of the institution.

Can you point me in the direction of a debate on this subject? specific to CANADA. Im looking for some research material on the subject of free secondary education but all im finding lately is the subject of caps on international students, and yes decreasing fees as well. I'm working on finding a way to include all that into my presentation, but a simple debate : free or not free, i keep getting lost. thanks in advance!! @@OliverFoote
