Mum ended up in an emergency placement in a care home in January. All staff and residents had their vaccination a couple of weeks earlier and mum had hers once she arrived there. Covid arrived at the end of January unfortunately. But of the residents that caught it, everyone recovered. So barely three weeks after vaccination it was effective thank goodness. Including mum!

@@rodpanhard many will be dead in the next 10 years sadly as they are exposed to wild mutations of coronavirus. I believe the vaccines are not necessary in prevention of such a small risk, especially when you consider that they are a novel, untested medical intervention. If these where typical attenuated viral vaccines that had received proper independent testing, especially longterm testing. These are novel and untested genetic procedures, they use manufactured RNA to stimulate your protein building mechanisms, to produce parts of the virus that the immune system can recognise. The much silenced and ignored issue here is that when these viral particles (spike proteins from the coronavirus) are ejected from the cytoplasm to the cell surface, they will act as signal that the cell is infected. The killer lymphocytes will respond by destroying the cell(s) that this occurs in. This has the potential to cause an immune overreaction (autoimmune disease) and has the potential to cause organ failure. Calling people an “anti-vaxx” is to play into the fear mongering that seek to both profit and control with this. I personally have had many vaccines for various reasons, but will not be taking this one. The risk of the virus does not justify the risk of the vaccine.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Bonnie Henry (she was here at the time) and have nothing but good things to say about her and many of the other indefatigable people who worked that outbreak. In many ways that was a dress rehearsal for what we are experiencing today. While that version of the virus had a much higher death rate, it did not spread anywhere near as easily as the variants are today - thanks God for that! In any event, really appreciate your updates and thanks for the Canadian perspective. Stay safe!

I trust those old vaccines, where they injected you with dead viruses to help you become immune, but this new mrna or dna experimental crap is not for me. I see no reason why there is even a need for vaccines against Covid when there are cures. Back in March of 2020, I had Covid pneumonia in both lungs and home treated with Ivermectin, doxycycline and zinc. 4 days later I was totally recovered. As for these experimental vaccines approved early for emergency use, I don't think most people realize that they skipped animal testing for safety. Years ago when they made mrna vaccines for Sars Cov 1 and Mers, they were never approved because they caused antibody dependent enhancement and killed the lab test animals. The animals did fine after first getting the vaccine, but when they were later exposed to the virus they died.

I live in Yukon (Northern Canada). Things feel pretty much normal here. There are travel restrictions in place with requirements for self isolation for travelers who leave the territory. There are also mask requirements in place for all indoor public places. In terms of vaccinations, I believe that we are currently leading the nation, with about 50% of the population already having received at least one jab. We have had very few cases of Covid-19 in the Yukon, and only a very small number of community spread cases throughout this pandemic, all of which were caught quickly, and curtailed. Total number of cases here throughout this have only counted 71. I personally feel that our good luck has had much to do with our remoteness. It takes days to drive here by car, there is no rail service to the Yukon, and air travelers have generally been good, I think, at following quarantine rules. Overall, I think Yukon citizens have contributed a great deal to this success by being smart about how they have followed rules. I share my frustration with many Canadians regarding our country's lack of vaccine production capability. It's really a bit of a disgrace. On the other hand, I feel that the Yukon government has generally done a solid job.

Sounds like living in a police state how horrible. Take care it’s going to get really bad over the next 5 winters as the vaccinated are exposed to wild mutations of the coronaviruses.

The cases rates in BC are almost the highest they have been in 2 months. The BC restrictions are incredibly uneven and misinformed and have been in place for 4 months without any real effect in bringing levels down. Socializing outdoors is prohibited, yet pubs are open and packed. High schools are fully open without an in class mask mandate but universities are fully closed and planned to be closed even in the upcoming fall. There are recommendations against travel but there are increases in travel options like ferries made available for all of the holidays.
