I live in British Columbia and can confirm that Lindsay's comments are very accurate with respect to what's happening here in BC and across Canada. She is very well informed, so kudos to both her and Dr. Campbell for their terrific public service! Regarding vaccine production capacity, there are a few groups ramping up here in Canada as a result of well more than $100M in federal investment. Annual capacity would be 1B+ doses combined, and production is expected to begin this year on one vaccine in particular. The three groups I'm aware of currently are VIDO at the University of Saskatchewan, Medicago, and the National Research Council. On a negative note, with the recent throttling of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to Canada, our government is now exercising its option to acquire vaccine from the COVAX vaccine bank, the only G7 country do do so. Shameful!

The infection rate has gone up and down, while the death-rate has continued to drop with exception of the populations of nursing home patients. "BC cannot restrict inter provincial travel until there's evidence of spread "......I'm living this Pandemic in BC, and this just about sums up BCs handling of everything here. An attitude of let's wait until things get really bad, and then act. Too little, too late. Look what just happened with school safety and mask mandates! Our PHOs literally just made it less safe at schools with an utterly ludicrous new set of mask wearing/safety guidelines in schools. That came just days after a case of the new variant being detected in my own town! Add to that our vaccine program is severely lagging and faltering. I shudder to think what's coming.... Thanks for this interview. I learned more about what's going on in my country in this short talk, than I have in the past few weeks from the mess that is our own reporting and media circus.

I’m from British Columbia and Lindsay is being very cautious with her words. Anti Vaxxers and anti maskers are increasing in number. Our Premier has said it would be against people’s rights to stop inter province travel. A great many of the international flights coming into Vancouver have had positive cases of COVID onboard. Getting a test here is very difficult with people being kept on hold on the phone for long periods of time before being told that they didn’t fit criteria for a test but to just self isolate for 10 to 14 days. The mental Heath system here is broken with people having to wait up to 12 months before they get to see a psychiatrist or other specialist even when they are having suicidal thoughts.

As a Canadian who really keeps up on her news the only reason I know how critical this information is because I watch your KZbin channel not because my government is communicating this to me. There is some discussion of the new variance but it's very minimal. In fact I live in the province of Ontario and as of today they just let all of the school-age children back into class. I know it was due to pressure from parents and child psychologist because they're just trying to keep everybody happy at this point. However I mentioned to my mother by March or April we will probably be back to teaching at home. Not to mention there are many around us who are just "over the whole Covid thing" and aren't doing what's essential to follow social distancing guidelines.

Either your viral shedding or not. This makes zero sense. Canadians living in US, claim Canada is doing it all so well. They clearly are not hearing this message. I already had it and we handled it like chicken pox, we wife and 3 kids Quarantined two weeks together no masks in home from 12/21-1/4. We are all fine. No respiratory symptoms. We already were D3 loaded since a year ago prior to this landing in US. Quercitin and Zn in cellular blend. We masked everywhere and at work, still got it. Masks dont prevent viral particles filtering thru. NO ONE IS WALKING AROUND COUGHING AND SNEEZING, so the talk of that spread is pure nonsense. Fraudci says double layer masks, deny yourself the O2 you need to think rationally and lower your immune system capability. No mention of HCQ or Ivermectin as therapeutics for those who get it. Its not vaccine or death!! What about the survival rate ? and stop with the long haulers are the only survivors more FEAR PORN. Talk about the vaccine deaths put it all on the table. Vaers. Alarming. Great video. As a fellow Canadian I'm annoyed with how reactive Canada has been during this pandemic. At no point have we shown any signs that we are TRULY learning from this. Our actions actively welcome all future variants from other countries to enter Canada or leave Canada if it originates here. As Lindsay points out we can still travel within Canada freely despite knowing variants are out there and our genomic testing is far from ideal. Its just a recipe for more long term misery and ultimately expense. Much like John and Lindsay I have full confidence we'll get through this with the vaccines, however, I have no confidence that Canada has learned from the pandemic to properly handle the next one. As John pointed out the other day...that next pandemic could be next week for all we know. Please don't be next week. Please? lol

The Americas , most countries and Europe most countries all have the same policy, West Pacific all have the same policy which is different. Regional culture or whatever it is, maybe keeping up with the Joneses has played a big part in responses. Although a bit sad if you are in some regions it's been interesting to see the behaviour of various countries who even though a plane flight anywhere in the world is only 24 hours seem to compete with neighbours regardless of type of government etc. Canada is competing against the US and Americas countries and possibly European countries in how many cases and how open it can be and how low quarantine standards can be achieved. Australian states plus New Zealand now competing how tough they can be versus each other and our somewhat distant northern neighbours of Mainland China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand ( has problems currently but I think get back to 0). I actually expected this a long time ago because there was and still is containment Western Pacific countries versus mitigation , don't overfill hospitals Americas and Europe, other countries around the world probably somewhere in between mostly.

Canada has gone from possibly the first to be fully vaccinated, to far far down on the list of countries vaccinating. We have ourselves to blame. Trudeau's relying on the EU for our vaccines was shortsighted and just dumb. Canada has helped Europe on two occasions, we've lost 250,000 Canadians on EU soil. The EU banning vaccine, breaking contracts with Canada is disgusting. I guess "Lest we forget" is a one way street. If proactive measures had been taken early on, the virus could have been wiped out in a few months, just like SARS was. But it took months for most countries to even restrict air travel, much less ban it completely. Even now, travel restrictions seem to be reactive and slow - and exceptions are made without enforcing proper isolation when the traveler reaches their destination. It is not the virus that is the real problem, the problem is the stupid way most countries are responding to it.

I am in B.C Canada. The Surge in cases that were thought to be believed to come from interprovincial travel, and therefore causing a surge on ski resorts such as Whistler were found by contact tracers ineffective. The cases and spread are not occurring by travellers. It is community spread by younger people from 16-30s. And lesser in their 40's. This has been well informed and established and people here are so damn slow at getting with the program and understanding these things though it is being clearly relayed across all reports and media. Also due to the new variant the request and mandate to have a 3 layered protection mask, not single use. Which ppl are also SLOW to get as I do not see ppl wearing thicker masks. It is not travel, it it younger people fatigued and not taking care. And I am sad to say that is my age group and because of this I cannot trust anyone to take care and it makes this isolation worse but I have to take care. As for the mental health, I completely agree... people already due to SAD experienced depression. January was suicide watch month already. We are seeing higher incidences of household violence, I also did see the report on Child abuse and starvation even. What I have personally noticed was the worsening of the already increasing homelessness and drug addiction crisis. And therefore crime. The uptick of crime, vandalism and violence is something I have not seen to this degree. On a daily basis, I am seeing people withdraw. Become apathetic, reticent, curt, impersonal, insensitive uncaring... unkind... only focusing on evading real depth or reaching out. Or imposing toxic positivity (denial) and making those that do feel inadequate for it... which then further isolates... :( people need to do better, esp for themselves... it's very discouraging.
