Great video Dunna! I love your filming especially your B-roll. Next weekend i'll be going to Alaska for the first time and returning from Vancouver. I'm so excited about this trip because I know there is going to be a lot of nature and beauty to behold. However, I'm all new at this video vlogging and I'm so afraid that I'm going to mess up or miss out on incredible b-roll scenes because I'm not sure about the technique. Do you have any suggestions that will help me? Thanks man!
@dunnadidit5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a ton! Honestly I was kind of figuring it out as I went on this trip. It was very important to me to step away from feeling like I was working (even on youtube stuff) and enjoy the holiday. My plan of attack was to film a lot of b-roll when I could, and take notes on what we did so that I could talk about it in voiceover style talking head segments. It seemed to work well for this one. It was really tough to squish 3 weeks into one video and I had to cut A LOT out but I think I managed to make it watchable using those techniques!

Okay, a lot to say here, and you brought a few chills. My wife and I started our honeymoon (15 years ago) in Victoria, and traveled throughout, ending up in Vancouver. We had to wait a year after being married because I ended up starting a rigorous program two days after getting married, and essentially having to wait until a break in between semesters. That was a nutty/crazy year, and having that break was way overdue, and being there in B.C. was (I think) the best choice for a honeymoon. Seeing Butchart Gardens again gave me a few goosebumps, and of course seeing the Ross Fountain again 😉 We still have those photos from the gardens hanging in our room. Little did I know that although I was in nursing school at the time, that this trip was just the spark for becoming a photographer and filmmaker. Now, I'm a Healthcare provider, and a professional creative... And it's pretty cool to be able to do both on my own terms. Anyway, you just reminded me where this journey began. You said in the description that the lens used was sony 18 -105 f4 , but I saw sigma 16 f1.4 in some scenes like the vlogging segment in around 12.34.....
@dunnadidit5 жыл бұрын
I shot some photos with the 16mm so you may have seen me holding or carrying it. There are actually 2 shots in there that are with the 16mm as well, both talking head tripod shots that mostly ended up being voiceovers. 99.8% of it and EVERYTHING where the camera was moving at all was the 18-105. Mostly because it has OSS and the a6400 doesn’t have ibis haha.

How's the droning in Canada going?
@dunnadidit5 жыл бұрын
Great, the key is to go somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Also, I have this website that shows you safe and/or restricted areas. Other than that, I also got up at like 6 am for both my drone sessions so there wouldn’t be people around (can’t fly within 100ft of people). I got the basic certification though and it’s great.

Dunna Did It Will be switching to Pana, just waiting for the new Sony apsc to be announce this month. Really like the new color science they made with a6400. Wish my a6500 had it and hopefully that newer one will beat GH’s. Thanks for the content, felt the happiness you’ve achieve with your trip with Meagan.

I am waiting too, see what they do with the aps-c line and then decide to either upgrade or go full frame.

@@dunnadidit would still be cool for you rockin' that "a6700". Take a lead on APS-C line you've known for. Rumors from rumors, a combination of a6500 IBIS with a6400 AF and color. This one is a buy for me, waiting for the codecs and hopefully they could give it a 10bit 422 with higher bitrate for a better quality. If not, cash is ready for Pany and willing to learn/explore more about it. Anyways, we'll still be here enjoying Dunna's contents, keep ringin' the bells. APS-C!

beautiful dunna, did u use gimbal in all the shots in this video for sonya6400 ? also which lens primarly used in this vlog ?

Beautiful vid..... 👍 So 18-105 is all u need? 😉 For compact traveling, would u prefer only to bring sigma 16mm or maybe sony e35mm f1.8? 😊 Need some advice... 😉🙏
@dunnadidit5 жыл бұрын
I had the sigma 16mm 30mm and 56mm on me for the whole trip but all I used was the 18-105 because its so quick and versatile. It's nice to have the others in case you might want them for a shot or two but for this style of "catch the moment" stuff... its much easier to have a zoom lens.
