This really makes me miss moose hunting. I was 13 when I shot my first moose. I live in a small village in Alaska and we hunt moose every year to survive because we’d go broke otherwise as the store meats are far too expensive. It’s our village tradition to give our first moose to the people of the village via potluck, so I shot two moose in one week and that was a really amazing week. Some of these shots are really amazing shots. It’s great to see people hunting moose to eat and not just for trophy

@@yandenditt I don't moose hunt but I do hunt whitetail deer. A head shot is great if you are 100% confident in the shot. There are two problems with head shots. If you are off by even 2" you miss or worse yet critically wound the animal. You might shoot off its jaw or knock out an eye. The animal may take a week to finally die. There are few things worse, at least for me than wounding a deer. I don't want the animal to suffer.

As long you don't kill the female and try hard to deliver a one shot kill or the most unpainfull kill to the animal, I say we're good. If you're only want to shoot your gun then go to the shooting range bcs animal is a living being and if you shoot bad, you only make it suffer. So make sure you deliver a deadly blow on 1 shot. @@Danielchavez-fn6mh I appreciate the horn set on a big bull, that isn't to take anything away from one with smaller horns. I understand hunting for sport with more populous animals like deer, maybe not so much something like a moose. I agree that hunting shouldn't always be about shooting the biggest animal. But as everything else hunting has different aspects. I didn't mean to take anything away from the beauty or honor that comes with hunting for food.

Hi, you are the luckiest hunter in the world. All your hunts amazing. I watch your deer, turkey, and moose hunting. I love it but I have a question if you don’t mind to answer. What caliber and what grain do you use for moose hunting? Most of your moose hunt you shot two bullet! I was wondering is you caliber or grain is small. Thanks for great videos I love it and I wish I could hunt once like you.
@canadaintheroughtv

Thanks very much for watching our videos. We shoot a variety of calibers and grain, but 30-06 and 300wsm are some of our favorite calibers and 180grain when it comes to moose. We prefer to shoot moose in the lungs and heart. Even though our first shots are typically on mark and vital, we try to always put the moose down quickly with a follow up shot when possible, as they can still run off for a good ways before succumbing to the first shot.

The common misconception that you and many others make is to equate hunting with shooting. Much of hunting is about doing what you can so as to make the shooting aspect as easy as possible. This may involve spending hours getting to within 100 yards of an animal as opposed to taking the easier option of shooting them at 500 yards when they're not even aware of your presence. Target shooting does not have to account for any form of animal welfare or recovery of shot animals, and therefore you're free to challenge yourself to your heart's desire.

There's always a bit of remorse for the animals we harvest but we are more grateful then anything. The excitement you see after a successful shot is due to the many days hunting the animal that you don't see in this video. Often a lot of time goes into trying to harvest a wild animal and when we are finally successful it's a big moment for us. And yes we use all the meat we love eating wildgame and sharing our harvest with family, friends and locals. Check out our channel for longer hunt episodes where we show you the full hunting adventure.
