How did I manage to get an Aadhaar card without staying in India for six months?!🤔 Aadhaar and PAN cards have nothing to do with the citizenship or residence status. I guess it is mandatory for the residents to have them both. I asked the guy in my bank. What if a foreigner gets a job in India? Will you not issue an Aadhaar card until he/she becomes a resident? How will he get paid without a bank account? For that Aadhaar card is needed. Forget the bank account part. How will a foreigner get a driver's license without an Aadhaar card and go to work? Aadhaar card is just an id without any rights, privileges or liabilities.

Surrender certificate- after you apply 4-6 weeks OCI after you apply another 4-6 weeks this is minimum

I am not sure from a legal perspective, for OCI as long as you have name change documents it won’t be an issue. Same should be for other cases too.

Did u update your oci status with health and life insurance policies in India while you were physically present in Canada?

Hi when I visited India had health emergency and was admitted. During claim I did submit all my documents including OCI as proof and claim was passed. Post that all records are updated. When it comes to OCI you may have to check the health policy has any waiting period. I am yet to know. If this helps you

You can stay as long as you want (forever) with OCI it does not have expiry provided you are on right side of law always
