Great video! Thank you for taking the time to post it. --- Is a citizenship renunciation certificate needed anymore? I was under the impression that the moment one is naturalised by another sovereign state, they lose their Indian subject by default and hence, renunciation of citizenship no longer applies. --- Can you please confirm?

No need for renounciation certificate now. But you will need the surrender certificate. Renounciation was the needed till August 2024 but then rule was changed.

The VFS staff will ask you to upload it during submission. If already submitted, then wait for HCI to get back to you.

Hi Suman, our baby is born in uk and we took Indian passport. Now as one parent has got ILR, baby has got British passport. But we are confused about whether the baby needs to do renunciation process or just do surrender passport for applying oci.

I have got my ILR and my child initially got the Indian Passport, the child have got the British passport now and me/my wife are still holding Indian Passport. For the OCI application for minor, I have got a couple of questions. 1. For the question Relation with the root Indian - will this be SELF since the child already held an Indian Passport? 2. Which section should be upload the Surrender Certificate for document upload? 3. Is there any NO objection certificate we need to upload from parents?

@@ragupathiravi it will be self as Child was Indian citizen. Surrender certificates can be uploaded in any section during upload. No need for NOC but there are some declaration forms(provided on VFS website )where you have to sign.

I applied for my OCI today, they did not take the original nor the copy for my Birth Certificate. The agent at the counter simply said that it was not needed as I held an Indian passport .🤷‍♀️

@@SanjiDM There is no need for birth certificate for adults with Indian citizen. It's only required for children born in the UK applying for OCI. I presumed you were asking about a child. As no requirements for OCI for adults

@@SanjiDM If VFS has accepted your application,I think you will be fine. They can always email you about further documents but I got my OCI without any issues.
