So what are your predictions? How long will it take to drive 1000KM using the Supercharger network in Canada? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Thanks for immersing us in this experience. - I've never driven a Tesla, so seeing the ease of charging and the cost for charging (about $0.04/km ?) was good context to add to my understanding of how fast Tesla Supercharging is.

Glad you liked the video! Road tripping long distances in a Tesla is very easy and if you keep within the optimal charging curve you will not be waiting long at the Supercharger. Plus, given the speed and reliability of the network, the cost is also quite competitive.

Nice roadtrip. This is exactly how I do roadtrips. I did a 1000km trip on BC on July 1, 2021 and got stuck in the mess coming home in Hope, BC when there was only the Tesla chargers downtown. Waited almost 2 hours to charge 10 minutes, just enough to get to Abbotsford Supercharger. Glad to see you still doing videos from Alberta. 🙂

Totally agree the best way to do Tesla road trips is to stay within the optimal portion of the charging curve. And if there is no wait at the superchargers then it’s super easy and enjoyable. Doing EV content in Alberta is not easy but doing my best! Thanks for watching!

How was the driving experience for you using Autopilot? Is it as relaxed as they say? And did you encounter phantom breaking along the way?
@LeftCoastEV Жыл бұрын
Autopilot was great. It is the best “cruise control” on the market today and works really well. The roads in Alberta and Saskatchewan are straight so it’s sometimes too relaxing I would say. No phantom breaking, but also traffic was light and not many turns to confuse the system. When I drove the Tesla in BC on mountain highways or road trips to the USA I did experience it a few times, but not on this trip. Thanks for watching!

I can imagine younger people than I would be delighted to travel long distances so quickly, but age and having to move ones limbs often. coupled with regular pee stops, coffee breaks and living life in the slow lane, fast tracking anywhere doesn't attract me. A great supercharging network though.

Trust me, I am like you, I prefer a slower pace than what I showed in the video. This was just to see if I could do it and how long it would take. The supercharger network, both its charging speed and reliability, is amazing.

Great test driving and I like you set the conditions from the start : +5 km/h on the speed limit.
@LeftCoastEV5 ай бұрын
I think the way to do these tests is through constant speed that most people will be driving at. It makes it most realistic. Glad you liked the video!

I’m going to say around 10 hours given the speed and sticking to the 250kW supercharger network.
@LeftCoastEV Жыл бұрын
Also close. 10 hours would be doable with a more ideal placement of chargers right at the highway. During this run I had to drive 15 min to and from a charger in one town which added an extra half hour to the trip.

You're not familiar with Suncor?? The have one of the largest networks of expensive and crappy EV chargers in Canada!! I'll give you three guesses what their gas stations are called, but you'll probably only need one.
@LeftCoastEV Жыл бұрын
I heard of Suncor but don’t know much about the company except that they are the owners of Petro Canada gas stations and, like you said, the worst EV chargers in Canada!
@Lorwildrose Жыл бұрын
I bet your Kia is going to add about 2-3 hours if not more. See if you can find working chargers. The co-op in Sask. is supposed to have some.
@LeftCoastEV Жыл бұрын
Oh for sure! Going to film it soon and it will take a while to do the same trip I am sure. It’s all 50kW Flo chargers lol. But that is the reality of driving a CCS car in many parts of Canada.
@Lorwildrose Жыл бұрын
@@LeftCoastEV yes it’s ridiculous. Why the companies aren’t supplying a better experience and want to get more business is just stupid. But most are just screwing the pooch and will be out of business soon with NACS coming.
@LeftCoastEV Жыл бұрын
That is why I applaud such companies like ChargePoint who are embracing NACS and adding it to their charger network. With more and more announcements of car manufacturers switching to NACS (even in the last week), the old chargers will need to be retrofitted or replaced with better and faster technology.
@Lorwildrose Жыл бұрын
@@LeftCoastEV except most of chargepoint are only j1772 with 5-6kw. Laughable!
@LeftCoastEV Жыл бұрын
BC has many faster ChargePoint chargers and so do many places in the US. They are very reliable and I used them often. Hope one day they will install some in AB as well.
@rosiekong5472 Жыл бұрын
My prediction is around 12 hours with charging!
@LeftCoastEV Жыл бұрын
Close! Watch the video to find out how long it really took.

Think there's more teslas in regina Saskatchewan than saskatoon .
