Just so everyone knows -- when buying ANY junk silver in Canada from a dealer (or even from a Canadian on eBay) you WILL pay at least 5% sales tax over and above the price of the silver itself. This does not apply to bullion that is .999 fine or better as those items are tax exempt -- but anything with a purity of less than 99.9% is subject to sales tax.

Great people in Canada their kindness reminds me of the home towns in the Carolina’s. I feel their pain when they talk about their government. I spent time in Toronto, years ago. I love their long neck Liz coins!!!

Me too. People say silver is silver but won't consider buying 80% coins at spot price. They would rather pay the high premiums.

🤔 I wonder if the US 90% would be less XFace if purchased in Canada. Maybe I should go and check out a Canadian coin shop. If your Canadian viewer could chime in that would be good to know.

I'm in Canada. The answer is "No". Coin shops up here know that American junk silver is 90% and Canadian is 80% and each is priced accordingly. Also, be aware that when buying junk silver in Canada from a dealer (or even from a Canadian on eBay) you WILL pay at least 5% sales tax over and above the price of the silver itself. This does not apply to bullion that is .999 fine or better as those items are tax exempt -- but anything with a purity of less than 99.9% is subject to sales tax.

I collect world coins myself.....problem is remembering the purity and the dates and what not...they aren't the best for investment purposes....but great for collecting....I like coins from Mexico, Germany and a few others... With world coins....buy what you like...cause chances are you'll be stuck with them...just my opinion

Depends on where you live in the U.S., for sure. People hate world coins where I'm at, but it makes it a deal for me.

I’m from Canada 🇨🇦 and a new stacker and I found this to be helpful when trying to figure out Canadian junk silver coins. 1$ in face value gives you 0.6 Troy OZ of pure silver. So $5 in face value = 3 Troy OZ And $10 I’m face value = 6 Troy OZ Hope that helps :)

I personally like the designs on the Canadian coins, maybe, just because they're different than what we have in the USA. Canadian Silver Seeker #canadiansilverseeker recently did a great video detailing the different Canadian dollars, it is a great watch. I noted you had several of the designs in your video including the Canoe, Goose, and Death dollars.

That extra 10% being copper seems to make a pretty big difference in durability. I never seen bad cull canadian silver like I do US. Also in the 70s and 80s iirc Canada did their silver commemorative dollars in 50%, and you can often find those and even the proof versions at great prices. Love the design variety with Canadian coins.
