Great video! I admire your passion to help people with Canadian immigration matters. 1. Unlike a US green card and as per CIC, you do not NEED a PR card to be a permanent resident of Canada, nor do you need it to retain your PR status. Although PR cards do expire, it won't affect your PR status like an expired US green card would. You can live in Canada for the rest of your life without your PR card but as the vlogger mentioned, it's still better to get citizenship or keep your PR card valid. 2. Believe it or not, before I became a Canadian citizen, and as a Jamaican passport holder who needs a VISA to enter Cayman, I was able to use my PR card at the time to enter Cayman. In other words, you can travel to some other countries on your valid passport and PR card but always check that country's travel requirements before making travel plans. 3. Another main difference between citizenship and PR is not jeopardizing your PR when you leave Canada for extended periods . As a PR, you can only remain outside of Canada for maybe up to 2/5 years. As a citizen, you can remain outside of Canada indefinitely without jeopardizing your ability to return to there. 4. Lastly, as a PR, you risk deportation if you're convicted of certain crimes and lack Canadian government protection if you're in trouble in other countries. As the vlogger had previously mentioned, if you intend to set up shop in Canada for a while, get citizenship, as it will benefit you in many other ways.

PR card can expire but not pr status ... 3 difference is that as citizen u dont have to be present in Canada to keep your status.... As citizen u can go back to Jamaica and live there for 10 years or whatever and still be citizen of canada... If you do so as PR you will loose your PR
@abbylx

One more difference, could be common sense. If you travel, a citizen is protected by the Canadian Embassy. If you have a PR, you cannot contact the Canadian Embassy. You have to contact the Embassy of your home country.

You don't lose your PR unless it is revoked. If your PR card expires you are still a Permanent Resident. The Card is mainly for the purpose of traveling. You can choose to be a PR for the rest of your life without ever having to renew your card if you never travel.

Yes. Permanent Residents can work for the Government of Canada in certain roles. According to the Government of Canada’s website, those with PR status cannot: vote or run for political office, hold some jobs that need a high-level security clearance

The Citizenship process is easier because all the information you gave the Immigration for the/during the Permanent Residency Interview is what is carried over to your citizenship process. The major issue during the citizenship interview is simply for the Immigration to go back to your records, since you have been in the country, to make sure that you do not have any kind of criminal and/or fraudulent record; which include paying your taxes, having Police records, etc.

HI there thanks for watching! to my knowledge you cannot get loans in Canada unless you have landed immigrant status. They hardly want to give credit cards. It may be more beneficial to get a loan from your home country or apply for an international student scholarship. Have a look at this link. Hope it helps. Student Loans International students with study permits: you are not eligible for bank or government student loans in Canada. Plan to apply for landed immigrant status: you could become eligible for loans once status is granted. Emergency loans: some colleges and universities offer 1-time emergency loans for international students. You will need to contact a school’s financial aid office directly for more information. www.ontario.ca/page/study-ontario-international-students#section-9

Just to reconfirm, if you’re a PR and you would like to apply for your spouse you would be able to do so? Is the PR spousal application process slower compared to if your spouse is a citizen? (Does it matter of your spouse is PR or Citizen) Because I’ve heard one process is faster, I’m not sure how true this is.
