You can drive all the way down to the tracks, it is CN property so beware, often times there is maintenance of way around this area, never had any trouble here though.

What causes the squealing of the wheels? The engineer applying brakes, the curve of the track on the wheel flange, combination of both, or something else?

The flange on the wheel rubbing against the rail on the curves! They have rail lubricators in place along the mainline for this. Thanks for the question!

I don't know how you put up with the loud squealing of the wheels going through the sharp curves. Maybe you had earplugs!!! Wow, I had to turn the sound low then off after a while!!!
