translation Hey, Beware ! Are you sober or drunk? Are you awake or asleep? In the black night, in the dark night, from left and from right, from afar, and from near, someone is shouting, shout. Hey, You sadness that like a Night hag, Collapsed on my chest, Take your hands off of my throat,, take off your hands, of my throat, of my throat, take off your hands. The city's alleys are full of vagabonds, my heart is full of pain. Night is full of men, and full of bad men, Hey, Beware, Hey Beware, There are gardens, and then there are gardens, Some are full of flowers, and some full of thorns, There are men, and then there are men, Some men are at work, some are not Hey Beware, There is someone being hanged, There is a breeze in the alleys wandering around, Fall is coming to gardens, to do mischief, In the sky, moon is saddened, moon is saddened by the pain of apathy. Fall has come, Fall has come to commit mischief, A breeze has gone wandering, In the black night, in the dark night, from left and from right, from afar, and from near, someone is shouting, shout. Hey, You sadness that like a Night hag, Collapsed on my chest, Take your hands off of my throat,, take off your hands, of my throat, of my throat, take off your hands. lyricstranslate.com

The strings are “Kamancheh” which is the the origin and grandfather of violin. This is a very outspoken lyric regarding what has been going on in the last 41 years in Iran... The last part keeps repeating saying: “take your hands off my throat (suffocation)... “
@Amir_sh_media4 жыл бұрын
It was not Kamancheh in fact it was Chello. His meaning of strings is Setar actually

@sedayehneda if you compare their voices together you'll realize that the kamanche has a fragile sound and almost bassless sound compared to the cello! because of the thin strings it has. but the cello sound has more bass even on the lowest string!

Stringed instrument is Se-Tar. Tombak is a sort of drums which got no string on it. Ahay Khabr dar is from the album called Rag'e Khab which is originally made for a movie wit the same name. It is a sociopolitical song, in a subtle way of course given the restrictions on speech in Iran. "someone is hanged ....", "fall has fallen, to do mischief ...", "take your hands off my throat ..."

Hi Mace (if this is your name). I like your input into what you lsiten to. Just for your information: persian music is music, and music is universal, but there are uniques features which one needs to study it a bit, for example for classical singers in Iran poetry and the lyric is really an esental part. Shajarian (the father) is the master of singing classical-traditional songs, whereas his son, Homayoun, although trained in that tradition but sometimes combines the Persian tunes, melodies and while using the same rich poetry, takes elements of western pop music, which seems to attract new generation and wider audience inside and outside Iran. The first song you heard from him, SANAMA, has the lyric from RUMI, but the music has fast rythm with elements of ROCK music. Consider this as a new experiment. However, his mastry which needs to be appreciated is the vocal part of that music. If you listen to his father, specially the older songs, you hear that mystical soothing classical Persian music with rich poetry and melodies.
