Australia, 27 million people 76 million sheep. So do we eat 'em? Hell yes! Australia Day Lamb ads are a tradition, they try and up the ante every year. Some are very clever but probably a lot of in jokes, you have to know the celebs in the ad for it to be amusing. This was fun though. ✌❤

The lamb adverts are always something to look forward to on Australia Day. You should check out some of the more recent ones. They're pretty good.

These epic lamb ads were part of our annual Australia Day celebrations - a new theme every year! Yes, we love our lamb it's the best in the world! Jim Jefferies has not sold out he'll always be a blunt Australian! 🙋👍

They use to say Australia was built by “riding on the sheep's back” because the early settlers got rich of sheep, both wool and meat. Lamb is a popular meat here. Not as popular as beef and chicken due to its cost, but it's still quite common. If a pub meal didn't have some kind of lamb dish, be it roast, chop or shank, it would be a poor pub indeed.

We eat lamb quite a lot. On the bbq this would be lamb cutlets or lamb loin chops. A favourite for the oven is lamb shanks slow cooked in a rich sauce/gravy. The “definitely not Copenhagen” clip depicted Princess Mary of Denmark (who recently became Queen of Denmark) being whisked up by the chopper. She was formerly Aussie Mary Donaldson, born and raised in Tasmania before meeting the Crown Prince of Denmark at a Sydney pub one evening in a casual social encounter.

They met at that pub during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, from memory.

A handful of cameos in it too. The grizzly sounding old guy is an ex Australian rules player and has done a lot of ads for the Lamb industry and there Australia Day push, there's a tonne of Australia day themed ads by them. Li Lin Chin was a former News presenter for a long time. The bald sad guy at Twickenham is Stephen Moore a rugby union player. Mitch by the pool is Mitchell Johnson a great fast bowler in cricket for Australia.

I'm a Canadian living in Australia since the mid 1960s. Have I eaten lamb. Hell yeah. And I can't begin to estimate the tonnage. My favourites: first season lamb, and South Australian salt bush lamb. Morrocan slow cooked lamb in a tangine. Lamb chops cooked on a charcoal barbeque. Roast lamb with roast potatoes, roast carrots and parsnips. Slow cooked lamb shanks in red wine. I could go on. And the great thing is that here in Australia lamb is so much cheaper and plentiful than in America. Love the little wooly buggers.

That ad was full of Aussie celebrities! Australia has lots of sheep although since this ad, it has gone up in price to almost unaffordable! Our Sunday roasts were always lamb when I was growing up (60s to 80s). We had lamb as often as beef, pork and chicken.

Denmark's Queen Mary is Australian. She had to give up her Australian citizenship when she married King Frederik.

This my Canadian friend is a rabbit hole worthwhile investigating. I'm an Aussie and if you want brilliant Aussie Ads check out all of them. It makes it worthwhile because you're smart enough to understand them all, not like a yank screwing their nose up wondering WTF. Every Sunday afternoon, I used to go to my Nans house (she's been dead for 40 odd years now) and we used to have a roast lamb and roast veges, I tell you what that was the best damn roast I've ever had, especially the potatoes. Imagine the uproar if we celebrated pork like this lol. Can't believe your gun control with Jim was blocked, he did that over 10 years ago and heaps of people have reacted to that, blur the image and it'll go through.
@warwickofnorwichАй бұрын
Jim does a Canadian accent in some of his standup (the one about freedom for example) would love to get your thoughts about it. To me it sounds very exaggerated like someone doing Aussie and trying to sound like Steve Irwin.

We love our lamb! Jim still doing stuff, had his own US show for a while. Hos stuff is all very funny. I recommend his Taking an MD sufferer to a Prostitute, long but sooooo worth it!!

Great reaction! you should check out some of the compilations they have put together of all the Australia Day Lamb adverts from the last decade or so (although the musical street party one was awful and terribly political, also the only one produced by a US advertising company) - love your channel :)
@GrethCunningtonАй бұрын
Something to do with the dog fence meaning we can grow lots of lamb without them being eaten by dingoes etc. Not so easy in the US with coyotes, wolves, cougars etc.
