This is one of my two favourite Dashcam Channels. The onwer is always calm and gives also always good calculations, how fast some of the idiots were driving. He is always very objective. The other one is the Channel "Eure Videos Fahrnünftig". The owner - Sascha - was a Truck Driver for many years and is partly the opposite of Leon from DDG. He can also be very sarcastic^^

In German dashcam videos, you see less crashes. People are speeding, but they are speeding less, and oftentimes, other drivers manage to avoid the crashes of the drivers being reckless, or incompetent (which often boils down to the same).

This is one of the reasons, why I sold my car. Too many idiots on the road. Especially the Audi, BMW, Mercedes variety. I'd rather deal with public transportation, even though it's slower. The train is 37 times safer than a car and I can watch YT on my way to work and back.

I don't even drive (I'd prefer not too and the licence is just too expensive to get it just because) but in my short couple months of shared commute from Münster to Dortmund I have seen so many instances of people thinking their time is more valuable than the safety of others. And it's always the BMW drivers. Once it was an Audi. I'm assuming it's all the middle management people with their company cars. Can't park for shit either. The managers at my old firm would always use 2 parking spots for their 1 car, so we wouldn't have enough of them for the regular employees...

The funniest part of dash cam vids is always the yelling and cursing vocabulary! Many German speakers automatically yell in English "fuuuuuu***", but a German classic is "Alter!" like at 2:47 or 5:51 It literally translates to "old (man)" and we use it instead of "Dude!" when we're taken aback/indignant.

Btw, that DDG channel occasionally uses the video footage to estimate speeds, by comparing video timestamps with road markings or even landmarks+google-maps -- so, a lot of their "speeding" clips have actual numbers, unless the footage doesn't have anything to work with. And, they DO talk about mistakes made by the cam driver as well, if applicable -- there are a few German dashcam channels that don't just collect clips, but add very competent commentary/anaylsis to them as well. This one does too, although the auto-generated subtitles felt rather bad.

2:30 The traffic lights apply here. The traffic sign only applies if the traffic lights are out. You see this combination often In Germany. Ranking: 1. Police 2. Other authorized persons (e.g. crossing guard) 3. Traffic light 4. Traffic signs 5. Right before left

8:40 Yes, since about 100 years, there are raccoons (Waschbären, "washing bears") in Germany. And this one was a racccon.

Here is a great dash cam video of how German drivers deal with a drunk truck driver on the Autobahn: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHyWZISseNF6acUsi=vFodrzijZ1dmZK8j It's a bit long, so you might have to skip through, but it gives a great picture of how the general public reacts. We measure blood alcohol in "Promille", not percent, so you have to move one digit. The legal limit here is 0,3 Promille but I think for truckers it's zero.

At 7:03 he wasn't allowed to turn left. the blue sign with the arrow on it demands the direction they have to drive, if you're driving in other ways that's pretty not allowed

The autobahn has no crossings. That is the definition of an autobahn and a requisite for no speed limit. All crossings are grade separated.

for the first clip, i dont know how it is in other countrys outside of Germany, but if a Policemen regulates the Traffic (not in that clip obviously) he is the only one to follow, and it doesnt matter if the traffic lights are red or if youre forbidden to drive into a road, what the policeman shows thats the only valid thing Yes Germany has Racoons , not that much but in the bigger cities they are there Our Autobahn doesnt have intersections at all, only the normal Ramps, thats the whole concept behind the Autobahn which is basicly a german "invention"

It's only illegal to have a dashcam (or just any camera) recording *permanently* (except your own property) or to publish footage of any person who didn't agree to that. If you only record short clips of specific situations and blur or pixelate persons or anything that could be used to identify someone if you're publishing the videos then it's legal. (You could also have a passenger in your car, who takes photos or videos and that would be fine, too. It only gets tricky if your setup would be considered a "surveillance system" that records all the time on its own without anyone operating it or if you publish footage neglecting the "right in one's own picture" of any person that's on that video.)

No its not illegal. The police mostly thanks you, they often ask you for your clip in case of an accident. Its also a gamechanger when the insurance of the others dont want to pay. Like in our Tesla, new cars have automaticelly a dash cam system

In May 2018, the German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) put an end to a series of court decisions on the use of dashcams and decided: In individual cases, the recordings from a dashcam can be used by the court in civil proceedings (ref. VI ZR 233/17). Before that, there were always concerns about data protection (hence the ban on assessing evidence). However, permanently filming and saving public road traffic for no reason remains prohibited as it violates data protection (Article 6 GDPR, Section 4 BDSG). For example, dashcams that only store the last few minutes to preserve evidence are permitted.
