CANADIAN SHILLELAGH carving a walking stick

In honor of St-Patricks day, I wanted to carve a shillelagh but with a twist... let's make it Canadian! So I made it all out of Maple. In the video I show how I added Ambrosia Maple and thin strips of butternut to make the knob for our Shillelagh. I show the steps to shape the knob, make a handle and form a twist into the shaft.

Jason I have a question, on your moose head carving you used wood hardener for the antlers. What's in a wood hardener?

Hi, thanks for watching. Not sure the exact chemistry, it smells like nail polish so I imagine some kind of penetrating lacquer. I'd have to do more research. But I wanted more strength for the antlers especially knowing it's use in a bar

Beautifull work and very well done. However, this is just a decorational pice, this will brake as soon as you hit anything with it.

What is SHILLELAGH?

It’s an Irish walking stick, usually made from one solid piece of wood… but I changed it a bit for some local Canadian flavor!
