Tim Hortons has fiiiinally opened in South Korea, so we recently headed over the second branch at Seolleung Station in Seoul to try it out for ourselves. Long story short, there were a lotttt of differences compared to the Tim Hortons experience we're used to in Canada!

Coffee with regular milk and ½ sugar Chocolate dip or Sugar twist (its back with their retro donut promo!!!), banana pecan muffin, rocky road dream cookie Breakfast sando with extra bacon, add tomato Summer: blackberry yuzu quencher or iced coffee with milk!!! That's your illusion.. Koreans also know that they set high prices in Korea. And Canadian fast food is not famous in Korea. There is no known Canadian fast food brand.......the American brand is famous.

It's normal for the prices to differ: rent [like kyuho said], transportation of some ingredients/products that are specific to Canada, salaries.... and they know there are Canadians in Korea who miss home and this is a way for them to have a taste of home...

I don't usually go to Tim Horton's anymore these days to be honest. I used to go to Tim's a lot earlier in my life but, these days compared to specialty shops that specialize in lets say coffee, food, and baked goods; I'd prefer those shops over Tim's any day. Though I do admit, Tim's generally has good competitive pricing so, as a student it's quite affordable (in Canada). I rather spend a bit more for higher quality food and drinks. I don't go out too often either. From what I remember, these are my favourite items at Tim's: Iced Cap Chili Peanut Butter Cookies Bagel BELT Turkey Bacon Club Sandwich Assorted Tim Bits Fruit Explosion Muffin Apple Fritter Honey Cruller Caramel Toffee Latte / Latte I don't really have a go-to order. Maybe the reason why that Tim Horton's in Korea is all fancy is because it's the launch/flag ship store? I wonder if the Justin Bieber collab happens again, it'll be in Korea too or maybe a Kpop group?

Maybe an unpopular opinion but Tims is low quality food, they actually used to make the donuts fresh in store. That's all be hived off and centralized to create efficiencies, totally gone down hill since it was bought out. I have fond memories going to Tims with my dad, getting a hot chocolate and a honey glaze. There are so many better choices in Korea for coffee and treats. Great video and glad you can have a piece of home there tho.

Oh the snow! Recently here in Germany we had the most snow in years! I live in the most humid part, where two rivers meet and we had a good 4cm of snow and the snow stuck for 3-4 days until it was all melted. We had black ice warnings and everything. I was so happy!

It's funny because the way you describe Canadian Tim Hortons is quite different than the way I experience it. I wonder if Nova Scotia Tims arent just way better than their Quebec equivalent 😆 There are Tims every 10 minutes no matter where you go in my area and I stop by several times a week, and half the time its very rushed like they will mess up your order, put the wrong thing in your sandwich or your coffee... lol but I'm used to it. I would certainly not want to pay these prices for the service I get here ahah but my go to order is the everything bagel with cream cheese, a hashbrown and a dark roast coffee! 👏

I live in Montreal Quebec and my experience with Tim Hortons has always been a good one. I love their sandwiches, their cold coffees, their donuts, everything. When I used to work downtown, I’d go to Tim Hortons every single working day. I have yet to be disappointed by Tims. I hear people say that a lot here that Tims isn’t as good as people make it seem but I never understood because my experience has been very different 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don’t know why that is.

It’s horrible in Toronto, all the Sikh/Punjabi workers are rude for no reason. They’re impatient & get annoyed easily. They always get my order wrong, I said no pork please & they added it anyways & then I showed them to get a new sandwich & they said sorry you need to pay for a new sandwich when I just paid for the previous order they messed up. They never get my orders correct. They have horrible customer service. It’s always so busy or out of stock.

Hi Sarah! Hi Kyuho! This makes me want to visit Canada and Tim Horton’s all the more! We were supposed to be going on a cruise with my in-laws, up to Alaska, this July. One of the land excursions that I pre-booked, was a visit to Victoria BC, that included a trip to Tim Horton’s. Because of you both and your past family videos, I was super excited and was planning on getting some Timbits and cookies! I’m all about everything maple. Maple donuts are my go-to, whether they’re raised, cake, or cruellers. Then…..ugh! We were forced to cancel everything last week. In-laws’ aren’t in the best of health. 😢 I still want to make it my mission to visit Canada and Tim Horton’s at some point. Thank you for sharing Korea’s menu. Seolleung was my station when I was in Seoul last November. It was all boarded up but I remember seeing the signs for the new Tim Hortons just outside the station exit and being intrigued. I'm from New Zealand so I haven't tried it before. Will have to give it a go next time I'm back there.

Kyuho goes to Subway in Korea all the time 😅 The interior is way nicer than in Canada. They don’t have quite as many things on the menu as the U.S and Canada, but the prices are pretty similar.

I'm American so Tim Hortons has never been a thing for me, but I did try Tim Hortons cold brew over the holidays while I was home in the US and it was quite nice! I've been to Canada but never a Tim Hortons! Starbucks was relatively new to me as I came of age so I've never felt any particular affinity for it but when they came to Sweden they failed horribly. We have a well-established chain here, Espresso House, that is probably the Swedish analogue to Tim Hortons. Their coffee is pretty good, they do a few seasonal drinks but nothing ridiculous or super trendy, and their menu offerings are nice but not too plentiful. Like you, I need customization, I have very specific dietary restrictions, Espresso House does not charge extra for non-dairy milks, which I think is good practice. Not surprised at those prices really, but I can't believe the price on Timbits! I'm curious to see how they do in South Korea, considering the cafe scene there is pretty robust.

the brand is so iconic that i remember walking into a tim horton's in toronto thinking "oh yes, now i can say I've been to canada" hahaha I'm sure they'll slowly roll out different things in the menu at their shops as they learn about the market's behaviour and recover some of the investment. these things are always VERY intentional, even when they seem a bad idea to us

To be fair, i think most foreign restaurants in a country generally offer a much more "appealling"/"upscale" experience, than the restaurants in that foreign restaurant's country of origin would offer lol. in south korea, of course in this branch, everything is so "amazing" because its something most south koreans have never seen before in their lives, so the brand would obviously take advantage of the novelty of the experience. also, i think adding a layer of extravagance promotes the image of that foreign country in general. but of course such intentions depend on how developed the target country is, because if a brand from country B wants to for some reason open up in a less-developed country A, obviously it wont be offering the same level of "grandeur", as is showcased in this video, because south korea by most standards is pretty developed, so there are chances to make this grand opening an opportunity to impress the local population. if there was a TH in like somalia or something, it obviously wouldn't seem as impressive as the one in this video.

Maybe the lack of pastry diversity is in fact explained by what sells in Korea,since Donuts are popular,let's sell donuts,most chained companies are afraid to step out of comfort zone by fear of losing money so they just appeal to the great majority of consumer since it gives them profit security. You'll see the McDonald's in my country have a really Fancy aesthetic and the prices are really high for the avenge family. It seems this happens very often when they go to different countries. Also Subway was quite fancy and expensive looking too. But I think it's true about the cafe game in Korea making it step up tjeir game to compete in the market, though your point is actually right, if donuts are more common in Korea cookies and muffins should've been their highlighted product!

Sarah, you should just email Timmy's and ask them if you can consult for them haha. It'd be easier to get those muffins on the menu :D. But I think you're right that they can set themselves apart with the muffins and cookies. Maybe that's in the works, but they are still working on their "ramp up" right now? All the options for the ice cap reminds me of boba. More ice/less ice, reg sugar/less sugar, what topping. Might as well jump back there and make your drink yourself with so many options lol. I remember wayyyyy back when when boba was like the drink and just the large pearls. That was like your only option haha.

Maybe a year ago (can't remember exactly) we started to get Tim Horton's here on Long Island. However... they are in the convenience store part of some gas stations... not stand alone. Kind of like when some gas stations have Dunkin in their convenience store... just a small section with coffee and donuts.

when I lived in Shanghai, a cup of latte is between 5CAD to 6CAD, it depends on the size of cup. The price of tims is lower than starbucks in Shanghai, but is still much higher than Canada.

I feel the same about Tim Hortons coming to Singapore. They are competing with Japanese donut brands and American ones here. So far, the only thing that's different is the maple glaze donut. I've not tried the melts yet. Will try it one day to see how it is.. Reason why I didn't buy it the first time, is coz it's something you can easily make at home.

Also, it isn't cheap to lease the locations they've chosen - prime spots if you ask me. At the end of the day, it's no more expensive than any other chain, but ten times better quality. The bread they use for the Maple Ham Cheese Melt is beyond delicious! I really hope the video title doesn't deter anyone from supporting the business.

I guess you find the same reason like why I don’t go to North American coffee brands here in Korea. Having lived in Buffalo NY, just across from the Niagara Falls, Tim Horton was a humble coffee house to go and pick up some doughnuts. Not sure why they should be so expensive here.

The Tim Hortons in Korea feels so much more premium and fancy compared to Canada, the interior design in Korea looks so much nicer and cleaner. I always get the large original iced capp which costs with tax $4.73 and my favourite muffin is the fruit explosion. A few years ago I used to get the frozen raspberry lemonade which was my favourite until they discontinued it and replaced it with strawberry which tastes way too sweet. Sometimes I get a Tim Hortons app offer for any size iced capp with 10 Timbits for $5 plus tax ($5.10). About 10 years ago Canadian Tim Hortons stopped serving food on plates and coffee in mugs. Do the prices on stuff in Korea already have tax pre-added, whereas in Canada you find the total cost with tax only at the checkout when you pay?

From Tennessee never had Tim Horton's. I did start to buy some powdered hot chocolate off Amazon since I've seen Y'all go there when at parents house. Ended up getting Land O' Lakes hot chocolate instead.😅 I never heard Y'all review it, was on the fence.

I know you knocked the prices but remember to think of this as an import. Just like Korean stuff in the US/Canada costs more than what you find in Seoul. Muffin and cookie mention x 100. Also selection again is not going to be the same compared to Canada just like McDonalds.

timmy hos is wiiild for going so hard in Korea xD I've only had Tim Hortons in Buffalo, NY region but omgosh... their coffee is excellent and i'd forgo Starbies if we had one in my area. All who are close to a Tim Hortons are spoiled. TT Love it sm! I am vegan now, so it would be nice to have vegan timbits ^^ Also, I kinda wish that there was a way for workers to add in an occasional "eh" lol!

The UK Tim Horton's only has doughnuts and no other baked goods. Prices seem to be in line with Korea, the last time I checked a couple of years ago.

There's Tim Hortons here in Singapore and I just went to try it for the first time. I love the donuts and timbits! But it's pricey! SGD10 for a box of 10 timbits! I shall try the Ice Cap and sourdough melts next time! :) Oh, sadly we don't have muffins here too.

we have muffin here in Tim Hortons Philippines and mostly the drinks would cost $3.1 and muffin would be less than $2 and timbits are $0.32 each

Its not always same menu around the world for Tim Hortons, they study their market amd adapt to it. You have different taste for TH since you've got used to it in Canada. Remember this is Asia and has different flavor offerings. It's just like how Starbucks adapted worldwide. You're to harsh for a franchise Sara. Try to out more research on how they do it before you critisize them.
