The Sanrenmu 7065 is the budget gentleman's pocket knife that is legal in most countries around the world. It has the classic styling of the old school pocket knives that your grandfather used to carry, and yet it also has modern refinements as well.

This is great for me, I have a Ganzo slipjoint and I'm from London, UK so this will be a good knife to carry with me, thanks as I own several sanrenmu knives :)

I like Ganzo but the best part of Sanrenmu is that most of their knives are original designs. So I always wish them well.

Hi Jake! I might take a handful of these for christmas for gifts! Plain and simple pen knives are very popular here in France. Peolpe-friendly look, very functionnal pocket knife. You wouldn't know it is chinese until you look at the markings on the blade.

The same is true here, at least in Alberta. The classic style of folding knife is still very popular.

One of my edc knives. Very sharp and holds the edge. Recently used it to cut retractable radio antenna. I was surprised how little sharpness it lost during the process. I was expecting the blade to be completely damaged. Highly recommended, especially with this price tag.

Thanks for sharing. They used a steel on this model that they don't often use, I am a little surprised it held up that well for you.

@@CanadianCuttingEdge I was rather surprised as well. Saying that, the retractable aerials are really just thin tubes. I've cut several times around the piece I needed and it broke off evenly. Still, the knife did a good job and didn't really suffer that much 🙂

I have three of these, it's the perfect pocket knife for the UK, and cheap enough not to worry about losing. FYI, the laws in the UK changed in 1988; before that only flick knifes were banned, although a copper could nick you for anything they decided looked like an offensive weapon. The point being is that "pen knifes" were the knife of choice long before everything else was banned. I had a Mikov fish (and still do) when i was a kid, but a Swiss army knife was the thing to have for us youngsters, all the old gentlemen carried gentlemen's knifes or fruit knifes, often with Sheffield steel and silver scales. Occasionally you might see an Opinel in a potting shed or a Boy Scout with a Buck knife but they weren't too common. Why would you need a lock if you are using a knife for cutting? I have never had a slip joint close on my fingers and I would suggest that anybody who has was using their pen knife for a job better suited to an awl or spear. I am always bemused by Americans and Canadians who say they don't trust slip joints.

I agree with you Bill. So many guys who have grown up in North America and are under 35 years old now don't remember when slip joint knives were 80% of the knives out there. I think every person should learn to use a slip joint knife safely, and that will keep them safe with ANY knife, even if the lock fails.

Love your in-depth reviews. I feel like I know what I'll be getting after watching one. Maybe you should do some separate "rant" videos on your favorite knife topics. You could call it "CCE Goes Over the Edge"!!! I think they could be very popular and I for one would appreciate learning from your experience. Ordered this through your link. Thanks!

Hi Jake , I hope you are bearing up in difficult circumstances . UK knife laws are awful ! I personally would have a locking blade over a folder every time . They are stronger and safer ! You have to be very careful with a folder and cannot give it any rough use or you risk serious injury . That's why we all have Moras over here lol ! Thank you for a great review , I ordered two of these from Gearbest on the strength of your earlier quick video on this folder . Best wishes to your Mum . Thinking of you all !

I am standing tall (and round too, but tall indeed). Yeah, slip joint folders always have to be used carefully. There were a couple of generations around the world when folders first started becoming popular who had to learn that lesson, and some learned it the hard way I am sorry to say. Locking blades are safer but any lock can fail so the lessons one learns from using slip joints are good to apply to folding knives with locks too. Yes, fixed blades are the best, and that is why I am carrying small fixed blade knives more and more frequently myself.

Yes, the spine is at 90. I make it a point to say when they are not 90, but I guess I should make sure I just say it each time. There are so many specs to cover - it's challenging to cover them all without the video becoming a list of boring facts.

This a great people-friendly knife. A person would have to be very mentally ill to be afraid if how this looks. I only carry knives that don't look "scary " (whatever that means). That can be just as important as whether it is technically legal or not.
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 6 жыл бұрын
That is almost MORE important than if a knife is technically legal or not, since most countries have laws where the police can take a knife away if it seems threatening to the officer, even if it is technically legal. I tend to carry knives that are socially acceptable where I live too. It is important.
@jasonhoyt8232

Canadian Cutting Edge indeed. I only carry one modern locking knife: the CRKT Squid. It's very harmless looking. The rest are traditional folding knives (SAK, U. S. Military Scout-style, Imperial Congress). I even carry a large Rough Rider Elephant toenail knife. But it's spear point blades are very non-threatening.

The the people in the UK who cry about "deadly knives" this thing still looks like a bloody machete lol My girlfriend's dad thinks every knife I have is ILLEGAL as soon as I leave the property. He even questions if it's legal to have it in my garage lol.

It is hard to keep this style of pivot snug. Over time they all develop lateral blade play - I should have mentioned that in the video but I didn't think of it until I saw your comment just now.
