I did order 4 Ganzo Knives from Power Cutlery, I had mentioned at an earlier time that I was doing that. Wanted to let you know, I used your code, I appreciate getting a break, Thanks very much. They were all opened with a thumb stud/post, no flippers. That may of had something to do with why they were not opened by Customs. But I got them all, it took almost 4 weeks from point of order. And I really like them, they will look good in my display case. Thanks again for introducing those knives to me. I also ordered and received a nice knife, CJRB from Integrity, it is a flipper. Thanks for your recommendations, I will be ordering more from these suppliers, especially before Christmas.

Glad you got them. I doubt that customs people can tell if a folding knife has flipper or thumbstuds before they open it. I seriously doubt that CBSA agents know that much about knives. I think they have a master list of who the shippers are that they want to inspect, as well as the list of package contents, and the rest is just random selection. Of course they have x-ray inspection but that is where I don't think CBSA agents can really tell the difference between flipper and thumbstud knives on a black and white x-ray. To back that up, I have had a number of knife packages inspected where there were no flippers (They put CBSA tape to seal the box, so it's easy to see if they inspected it or not). I hope all future orders you make also come through without any problem.

@@CanadianCuttingEdge Yeah you're probably correct about them targeting certain suppliers. But I periodically watch that Border Security show about our Canadian Border Services (reality TV). Sometimes they show them opening packages and they pull out a knife they are carrying, mostly folders. And my my they do have some really nice knives that they carry. Wonder what supplier they get their knives from (wink wink) ? Just saw the one show and they had the cameras in where they do the X-Ray examination of packages in the Toronto Area. I must admit what shows up on that screen, what they can see is pretty good. Like you say, differentiating between a flipper and post would be difficult but they can see that they are knives in there. I am planning on ordering more knives prior to Christmas and I am looking at White Mountain Knives to give them a try. I really do like these Ganzo knives though, glad I got these. I don't know if it's better making orders during a time of the year when they are really busy, like at Christmas. Or when they are less busy. But I won't be leaving any ordering to the last minute or there won't be anything left to order. What I find disturbing is that the Border Services seem to make their own rules and have an ugly on for flippers. Yet I can buy flippers from Canadian Suppliers located here in Canada. I have bought over the years from Warriors and Wonders in Vancouver. Never had a problem with them. One year I couldn't get a particular knife anywhere from any suppliers that I normally deal with in the USA. But this particular knife they had at Warriors. I contacted them and it was very close to Christmas and I was hoping to get it before then. And they got it to me, by mail, in time very fast, at probably the busiest time of the year. I have had a couple of things opened by the Border Services and they stick that tape over everything. I had some items they opened, not knives but camera parts. And it really ticked me off. They stick that tape everywhere and they damaged the boxes that the items came in. I have all the boxes to things like knives, they are worth more to hardcore collectors when things come with nice boxes. Border Services are in need of training when choosing to open packages.

Thank you for not calling N690 a budget steel. I can always count on Jake to actually know whats up. This is pretty nice, and something a little different as a modern traditional. QSP does really nice work.

I watched Arthur Brehm's video on the Ruike LD42B. I dont speak a lick of German but it sounded like he thought it was s good buy. I like the blue scales and bolster just make the Worker pop! The Bohler N690 is more steel than I'd ever need for the cutting that i do, but if i had the money, it would be a "just in case I needed an edc knife for a formal function." Thanks for sharing, Jake.

Another knife, another detent problem. Ordered this from Blades Canada and received it today. I can flick it open really easily. With the pivot screws both rotating, I can't seem to tighten it with much authority. Beautiful knife - absolutely love it. But, again, as a Canadian this might qualify as a gravity knife. Stupid law, but this could be seen as such. I am perplexed - I specifically ordered this thinking I would never have a problem with this model. Clearly this a tool, but I can flick it open with my wrist sometimes.
@CanadianCuttingEdge3 жыл бұрын
If you don't return it you could send it to me, I think I could probably get it to work well for you. I often fix soft detent knives so that they don't violate the current interpretation of the gravity and centrifugal knife laws. email me if you are interested - CanadianCuttingEdge AT gmail.com

Jake, l would only add one comment to what you have said (especially you are right regarding the thickness behind the edge, n690 can withstand 0.4mm and below assuming good heat treatment of course ). So that is about the lock. In my opinion on such a knife the only situation where you are going to need a lock is whittling or similar type of job where the blade gets stuck in the material when you are pulling it back after doing your cutting motion. To fight back this issue you need a lock indeed but not really as strong as a back lock. This knife could benefit from having a mid lock instead, allowing for much easier one hand closing (especially given such good mechanics). Actually one more thing - on a WORKER (gets dirty by definition) washers make much more sense than ball bearings, but of course to get same performance with washers would cost many more $$$. Otherwise really like the knife (classic design that can be taken apart!). Thanks for the video!
@CanadianCuttingEdge4 жыл бұрын
I agree with the points you are making. I am sure that if it was a mid-lock then there would be some people asking for it to be a back lock. We humans are like that. :) You ended with a benefit that I failed to mention. It can be taken apart if the need for a deep clean ever comes up - that can make it worth it right there.

Hi Jake, Just confirming if this is an error : "You will get 10% off the regular price of $76.95 to $84.88 when you check out with coupon code: CCE (it works for everything WMK sells)" Shouldn't it be like 69$ if the original price is 76 or was the orignal price 84 and its going down to 76? Thanks again for your review videos!
@CanadianCuttingEdge4 жыл бұрын
I am sorry for the confusion with the wording. "the regular price of $76.95 to $84.88" means that those numbers are the regular price of the knife - depending on which handle version is chosen. The 10% savings comes off the regular price. $76.95 minus 10% = $69.26 (rounded up the nearest penny)

Again I do just wish they had made the pocket clip ambidextrous. Please knife makers, don't forget the 10 percent of us who are left handed. Thanks!
@CanadianCuttingEdge2 жыл бұрын
I am left handed too. I have come to conclude that knife companies just simply will not cater to lefties much of the time. So I tried hard to get used to R handed knives carried from my left pocket. I can deploy the blade and have it at the ready just as quicklly from either side pocket. BUT - I also forced my self to become ambidextrous, mostly because I was the youngest of 4 brothers so all the hand me downs I got for any sport were R handed and my parent's didn't have enough $ to buy new stuff just for me. I learned how to make it work. I know that I'm unusual and that's not always possible for every leftie though.
