I loved the banter and chemistry between Templar, Luger, Rico and Hahka. I was kinda sad when they didn’t return in Killzone 2 and they had Templar killed.

The Helghan may over-value strength and independance but the Vektans are so disgustingly weak willed that it's honestly hard to tell which is worse. Every game is just the Helghan overestimating their capabilities and getting a good kicking from a small unit of Vektans that have been betrayed or ignored by their own government which is more than capable of acting but would rather wait for Earth to come fix the problems for it. It's a really good example of how modern nations engage in politics where those most eager to make an influence are often too weak to do so, except that it's almost TOO legit and starts to become aggravating.

Funny how the Helghast are portrayed as the villains/monsters when it was the ISA who made them that way. It is the ISA who sent the Helghast to Helghan to die, it is the ISA who ignored the Helghast as they suffered, it is the ISA who killed Visari, so who is the real villain? Who is the real monster?

Look, don't get me wrong, I can understand not wanting to play as an unfeeling helghast soldier, but what about playing as a sympathetic helghast or half-helghast (similar to the ones in killzone 1 and killzone shadow fall), fighting against not only the corrupt new helghast government, but also against the equally (quite possibly even more) corrupt ISA! I would want to play a game sequel with that story, wouldn't you?!

From Killzone 1-3 is portrayed as WW2 Nazi's (Helghast) and the Allies (ISA) While Kilzone Shadow Fall is basically the Nazi's rebuilding their Military to defend their people, whereas Sinclair becomes hellbent on the Helghasts full extinction blinding and lying to Lucas and using him as a means to start another war.

(This is in regards to Killzone 1, 2, and 3.) The Helghast and Vektans (ISA) should be added to the list of Space races too stupid to even exist. Both of their militaries (though to a lesser extent the Helghast) lack basic units and command elements that are necessary for a successful military. First of all, the Helghast focus on exorbitant and expensive units such as the MAWLR, when they could be paying for more cost effective and vulnerable units such as their hover tanks and APCs. The Helghast also have a horrid problem with funding their military regarding paying their soldiers. Also their leadership is made up of genocidal maniacs. And the Vektans. Oh boy is their military a complete and total disaster, especially when it comes to planning, execution, and leadership. Though first, let's talk about their units, no heavy armor, no ground attack/close support aircraft, no fighters, no enclosed areal transport vehicles and nothing except light infantry to field. It's like they have no idea what combined arms is. And as for planning and execution, a 12 year old Helghan can out think Vektan High Command. I mean, sending only one wave for an invasion of Helghan, it was essentially Galipoli 2.0. What they should have done was had several phases to the invasion where there was a constant supply of soldiers and supplies, not to mention fresh ships to rotate out, which that's another thing to mention, the Vektans have absolute shit ship designs.

I think it's not that unreal. Remember, these planets were settled by entities which were corporations first and a government second. None of their infrastructure was designed for warmongering, they were focused heavily on the space-race, terraforming, settling, etc. Both militaries must be new and amateurish.
