Now its affecting the ability of a lot of Canadians to afford to eat. Very alarming! What we need is a wrecking ball to burst this super size bubble for the Canadian economy to reach equilibrium. The economy of Canada is like a small truck, however, we keep loading concrete blocks on it at the point that the load is so heavy that it starts to affect its ability to move freely. It actually is their business by law. When you put your money on your bank account it is no longer your money. That money now belongs to the bank by law. The balance on your bank account is just “I owe you” but part of the contract is, while the bank owes you the money, it is their money. That makes you the debtor of the bank, but the bank may refuse to give your money back like an untrustworthy friend. The bank in reality holds almost no cash at all. It is all bound to investments and hard assets, and bonds. The problem is that they can not recall those funds at any large scale. If enough people withdraw their money, the bank has to sell assets, possibly at great loss in an unopportune time. A bank can be bankrupted very easily due to leverage… 5% of cash withdrawals will bankrupt a bank. And that is why banks do not want to give out cash because it is money nobody in the financial system can really recall, also the reason why they want digital only money.

My truck requires the front differential fixed 1800-2500. Social assitance does not help with that. My worker keeps demanding i attend brandon for job programs which i cant get to... Social assistance is full of inept incompetent idiots. I am trained and have been in the protection industry in a supervisory or managerial level for decades. The idea that everyone will take public transit is laughable when you consider that Toronto is struggling with ridership decline on the TTC. Newly elected mayor Olivia Chow recently increased TTC funding to help cover revenue declines from lost ridership. She is trying to avoid having to make cuts to TTC services. She fears (rightly so) that would further reduce ridership. TTC might be in a death-spiral. The COVID-era work from home mandates have meant the white-collar and high income earning are no longer commuting to downtown Toronto in the numbers they did in the past. Small businesses that depended on these people are suffering. This further impacts the city's coffers. If the public transit model in Toronto (one of Canada's cities where we used to feel confident the business case was) then what hope is there for smaller cities?

Start your business, dont register it until you are sure it will work out. You may be able to get by with a city permit.

Bit by bit our family has changed its way of buying food and household paper goods. Now, it’s always the cheapest meat cuts, or decent cuts on sale. No eating out. Making our meals from scratch. (It’s has improved my cooking skills 😊) Store brand items when possible, no more paper plates. No snack type foods unless we have friends over…. The least expensive fresh vegetables I can find. I buy nearly everything on sale or at a discount. I’d like to eat more fish for my health, but it is very expensive. The other day, I bought Gulf shrimp at 6 USD a pound and a whole octopus also at 6 USD a pound. I’d rather have cod or salmon, but the prices for those here are 11 USD plus 😢 Edited to add: Our household is 2 adult parents and 2 adult children. Trying to figure out more ways to cut back. In the end, though, I am very grateful that we have a roof over our heads and food in our tummies. It has been quite a change

What you need is the wealthiest paying the same percentage of tax, the middle-class pays no loop-holes, and capital gains adjustment on yearly profits by the wealthiest, no loop-holes. We sell our resources investment , by buying the investment, what sense does that make. Time for Canada to count for the enornous resource capital we have, instead of giving it away to the Wealthiest.

These people who can't afford to eat, how many have new cars, RVs, boats, new iPhones, expensive homes etc they are paying for? How many still have money for hair and nails, clothes, shoes, cable TV with all the extra channels, etc? I am in the low class, but I don't buy all of this stuff, and I have cabinets full of food.

Very true. I’ve always lived frugal. Now as a young family, yes our food bill has increased a lot but we can still feed ourselves and live relatively well. I have a cheap car, people always made fun of me. Look who’s having the last laugh now.

Insanely massive immigration is pushing up the cost of houses and rentals to the stratosphere. After paying for housing, there is no money for anything else, often there is not even enough to pay for housing alone, that's why more and more people are now living in their cars and applying for employment in America instead of suffering in Canada.
@Miniweet91676 ай бұрын
This premise is complete garbage. Only where rent has become completely unrealistic do people not have enough to eat. Everywhere else is fine.

I think the question that needs to be answered is this.. That debt, is going to proving up residential mortgages or commercial? And all the extended amortization (bailout), res or com?
@VitoAnthonyD.-ow7oo6 ай бұрын
They failed to see the red flag when Trudeau courted them saying that he admires the basic dictatorship of China. All China did was bet against subprime in the US and their horse came in when the recession happened and people were underwater with their mortgages. They saw him give all our money away and voted for him regardless. I have absolutely zero empathy for Canadians except for those who did not vote for progressive parties. You fk around, you find out.

Good luck trying to spend gold and silver. The premiums charged to buy and then again to sell , eat up a huge chunk of your gains. And like at the end of WW2, all the govt. did in the US was to pass laws making possession of gold illegal !

Thanks for a great show, once again. At the end of the day I always come back to the extensive debt Canadians have accumulated for a very long time, even warned repeatedly back when Carney was BoC boss. Is that not the cornerstone, along with productivity and investment in the labour force, of middle class power?

No use think inflation will decrease, with everything inflating, means less money to pay on the debt, and with commercial reality heading into the abyss of no return, and GDP based on a part of it, there is no loght at the end of the tunnel, for the middle -class , which inpart ( some are responsible for spending , on trying to keep up with Jone’s.
