Majority of these are just common sense anywhere you go!

I think the accent thing is also down to the MASSIVE variety in accents in the UK, and for some reason everyone does the same posh/cockney mix which doesn’t even exist 😂 If it were more accurate or would be funny

The thing about the accent.. When people do the canadian accent its usually done in a positive way, because they think it sounds "cute" or something compared to their normal one.. The problem with specifically people from the US doing an english accent is that it's rarely done in a positive way. Usually people do it to make fun of how "weird" people in the UK speak or how stupid it sounds. That's not something you want to build a friendship on..

Jumping the line I feel is a universal rule not to do. Definitely wouldn't get away with it in the US either. Great video as always!!

When some friends and I went to London, we were in line to see the Queen’s jewels. There were a few royal guards outside of the building and people were trying to get them to break. This one kid (probably 8 years old) said something SUPER funny and it broke one of the guards! I’ll never forget that! Also, it’s easy to drive on the left side of the road. Rented a car in Australia, and it was perfectly fine.

Renting a car in England is better than bringing your left handed drive European RV for a tour of the UK. My husband and I did that and what a nightmare. We drove a lot of those winding country roads (the ones with the giant hedges along the sides) and half the time when we were going around corners I was hanging out of the passenger window yelling to my husband "Car!" "Car!" "Car!".....except for that one time it was "COW!"

Not sure why your channel hasn't taken off yet. You seem like very genuine, entertaining guys, and your content is interesting. I've seen some channels with nothing but completely idiotic and boring shit, and after watching two videos and doing some looking into why in the feck KZbin suggested them to me, I find that they have 40, 50, 60,000 views on every video they make, even though I don't see how they get 100 views more than once. Just keep at it, and hopefully one day something in the algorithm will give you guys a push. It seems that channels that do well often do start out struggling for some reason, and then suddenly, their views just explode. Not sure how that happens but it does.

4:30 Chicago too. If you want to stand on the escalator, you move to the right. Chicagoans are polite, but we're also in a hurry. "On your left" is the polite way to tell people to move TF over to the right when on escalators. And skiing/snowboarding.

I spent over 12 years in the UK. There were some negative parts, but mostly it was good. The negative experiences were down to individuals. It would be very unfair to blame anyone part that. Last time I was there was a decade ago. I miss it. A lot.

Things you should do in the UK: Ask the taxi driver “how long you on til?” or “been busy?” Shout with the entire pub in unison “wheyyy” when you hear someone drop a glass. Maybe react to some Frankie Boyle audience annihilation? It’s hilarious but don’t know if it would be too offensive for your channel. Or British road rage.

Other things not to do - only visit London and only stay in hotels. You should go to the countryside and stay in a Bed and Breakfast.

That seemed like mostly a common sense thing that can be shared in any country. I’ve heard of Americans being jailed in England for saying something offensive. The police can easily charge you with terrorism and lock you up with no lawyer or phone call. There’s no protected free speech in the UK.

Love your videos and love visiting Canada. Two things about the UK. Don't expect everyone to speak, act or live like the people on Downton Abbey. Secondly make sure that you don't just visit London. Oh, and be ready to have small talk about the weather. This is often used instead of awkward pauses or with people you just met.

Also, if you go to London as a tourist and expect to enter any of their museums or tourists' attractions the same day, you are going to be sorely disappointed. You'll likely end up standing in a line a city block long in the rain. Take it from me, find the sites of the place and make a time reservation a couple of days in advance, if possible. Otherwise, there are these tourist cards that you can reserve times with at the Hotel. Almost every tourist attraction - at least in London - has two lines: one for the dumb fucks who just thought they'd go and see the attraction, and the line for reserved time-spots. Oh yes we were the dumbfucks who stood in the rain for two hours, and it is no fun. Even if the day starts out sunny and you like to stand in line in the sun, remember London weather is notoriously unpredictable and you'll most likely STILL end up standing in the rain, but dressed for sunny weather and without an umbrella!

Just to confuse things, in Australia, you should always stand on the left of the escalator and walk on the right. But the rule sill stands. Don't block it or you're an arsehole. lol

I don't think the royal guards point their weapons enough. They normally resort to shouting at the tourists, but I think if they'd point their guns more, people would get the message 🤣

One thing I would have added- if you meet someone from Ireland working in the UK, don't assume that they are from Northern Ireland. A lot of Irish work in the UK. And also, don't say to them that ALL of Ireland is part of the UK. 😬😳. It is not! (only Northern Ireland. A very touchy subject - my wife is from Ireland. Trust me on this. 🙄)

The Queen's guard's SA80's are not loaded but the bayonet is real. Plus they are not allowed to stop, so don't stand in their way when they are marching back to their barracks, they will march through/over you.

Another thing I learned in London is this: Don't assume that everybody speaks fluent English. You would think that in the Global Capital in the world of the English language, you would be able to communicate perfectly with everybody at tourist attractions, pubs and restaurants, right? No no no. Like 75% of the population seems to be foreigners who barely speak English at all, and that includes the employees at tourist attractions, pubs, and restaurants. So if you thought finally you've come to a country where you don't have to talk a freakish mix of English and sign language to get what you're looking for, think again. I swear to you, when I was in Tunisia the people had a better grasp at the English language than in London!!

Videos like this need something to fill the void left by just talking, and if they fill the visual part of the video with random clips people recognize, it is a higher chance they will stick around than if they just had a waving UK flag or something like that.

Finally, give up trying to comprehend the monetary system while in London. It's simply no use being at a pub - or ANYWHERE - and think that you will be able to use your translational skills to understand a perfect sum of pounds and and pence from your pocket of currency on a coin to coin perfect balance exchange. Especially considering you can hardly understand what they are saying to begin with! While the old monetary system is not in play anymore, the common Londoner still speaks about money like it is, so you will be faced with terms like this to tell you what you should pay for any service or refreshments: 1 farthing (the lowest value coin) = 1/4 penny A ha'penny (Half penny - a copper coin) = 1/2 penny (pronounced "heipni") 1 penny (a copper coin) = one of the basic units (1d) Threepence or Thruppenny Bit = 3 pence (pronounced "thrupence") Sixpence (a silver coin also called a 'tanner') = 6 pence 1 shilling = 12 pence (1s) 1 florin (a silver coin that numismatists regard as one of the most beautiful medieval English coins) = 2 shillings A half-crown = 2 shillings and 6 pence 1 crown = 5 shillings = 1/4 pound 1 pound = 20 shillings = 240 pence (£1) 1 sovereign = a gold coin with a face value of one pound (about .24 ounces of 22 carat gold) So if you're in London, just always round up and give them the closest bills rounded up, and take the change. You can always keep the resulting bag of change as souvenirs, or something. Isn't of remembering the above-mentioned slang for what you owe at any bar or restaurant, those brain-cells can probably be put to better use, like learning the Kabbala or complete works of Shakespeare. Just give them the pound note and take whatever they give you back in coins and signal "Thank you" like an american trying to talk to a Frenchman.

"Common Londoner" here. I'm not sure how long ago it was you visited but nobody describes money in the old terms here. The only time I've heard them used is by my elderly parents describing how money used to be, never in the context of current prices. We went decimal before I was born lol.
