Instruments like these make me wonder why they haven't become staples across the world.
@lindor4life5498 ай бұрын
i put my duduk reed in a box near my oboe reeds (that were sealed) and it somehow got soot in all of the reeds, making them taste bad and harder to play. also, in traditional bands, you dont see the key of A often in sheet music because bands today dont commonly use them.
@mastersloseymusic39288 ай бұрын
Probably because reed instruments can be a pain in the ass when making the reeds.

@@lindor4life549lesson Number One: never put Reed and body of duduk in a box without contact with air. They Decay. This are sensitive instruments and pieces. They have their own ecosystem. Same happens with bagpipes.
@yorganyog7 ай бұрын
Because, unlike elextric guitars, you cannot make cheap and mass production of this. You cannot play well, with good sound, a bad bagpipe. Reeds are very sensitive, and Building this requires craftmanship to make it right with the right details.

Actually the Duduk is the most overused instrument in orientalist music to the point that it's funny. You hear this instrument in nearly every movie or game with a desert setting. It is very much a staple accross the world.

Шикарное звучание одного из величайших изобретений Армении. Дудук это голос неба, солнца, тумана в теплый летний день, окутавшего горы. Звук винограда в росе, звук костра,звук любви.

I am a sound technician. I am learning to play Duduk.The sound of the Duduk is beautiful. The sound you’re hearing now is sweeter and deeper because of the effects. I do not hear any layering on this recording. Just a very long reverb and very light delay.

I am curious about the natural acoustic tone of this instrument? It sounds incredible when run through a reverb and delay. I want to buy myself a duduk and I am interested in knowing how much of this sound is produced by layering digital effects.
@i_n_c_r_y_p_t_o Жыл бұрын
I can't answer directly since I don't play the duduk, although I just ordered an A and G duduk to start learning! But I would say most likely that this is very influenced by the reverb and delay effect, to make it sound as if it's being played in a space like a cathedral. A normal woodwind instrument would sound pretty flat and not carry in a normal living room or office like he is playing in. I'm not diminishing his playing--his tone and playing is incredibly beautiful, but if there were no effect applied in the room he's in, it would have basically no reverb is what I would say just from a lot of experience playing the saxophone.
@Zizie_sc11 ай бұрын
@@i_n_c_r_y_p_t_oI disagree… part of what makes the Duduk so beautiful, is that harsh and yet hollow “human” tones they provide Amazing instrument
@i_n_c_r_y_p_t_o11 ай бұрын
@@Zizie_sc Yes I agree but no woodwind (or any) instrument has that much reverb in a standard living room or room such as this, coming from personal experience.
@carmeloprincipato780910 ай бұрын
IL duduk suona in chiave di. G con un ottima amplificazione e con degli effetti standard e possibile ottenere questi risultati , la differenza la fa il musicista usando un ancia media giocando di maestria sui cromatismi sui legati e sullo staccato puntato.
@TjMoon9110 ай бұрын
Your comment was a year ago, so hopefully you ended up buying one. But if you haven’t, the reverb/delay obviously helps with the ‘epic-ness’ of the sound, but the core tone is what you hear in this video. It’s not like the actual tone has been drastically altered with fx.

This is the voice of the wind, perhaps mourning the loss of her child, or crying from loneliness. Excellent performance, Canberk! You are a masterful dudukahar; I could listen to you all day! Do you think that perhaps the English Horn solo in Ravel's Adagio Assai (from his piano concerto in G) would fit within the range of duduk? Would the key signature be difficult to maneuver? And, if you think it is possible, could you please play it?
