Amazing Video. I would really like to visit this line one day, nice crossings and service too!!

Thanks Harry 😎 It's a nice line with a good mixture of freight and GWR 800s which are reasonably regular. There's also a nice lot of crossings and some good views. Worth a visit 👍

You certainly made a good choice using the ultra-wide lens there, as I remember finding it difficult to get a decent starting view of the level crossing from that corner when I went! Interesting how the sequence was stopped for the vehicle too - I guess the train must have been stopped in Thatcham Station or at least far enough away to allow for that. Anyway, I certainly like the alarms at this LC, and nice to see you've filmed here now! Great vid! 👍👍😁

Thanks! 😁 Yeah, just managed to fit the crossing standing right on the edge of the curb. This happened twice and I guess it was since the signaller wasn't lowering the crossing at the very latest point. Nice crossing here 👍

That was a long wait. Strange, barriers not lowered too early when one train coming but stay down a long time between trains.

The last closure I filmed at this crossing was even longer, lasting over double the wait from this video. On these types of crossings in the UK, it is normal for a train to take a few minutes to pass, because of how the signalling works.

Ooh, that’s interesting. I have never seen that before. It was a very long wait between trains, those drivers must have been bored. If it were me, I would have filmed out of the car window😉. I did that once at Farnham, people though I was very strange😂.

Yeah, it doesn't happen often and I've only seen this happen once or twice before, one time to let an ambulance on emergency through a busy crossing. I'm sure people think I'm even more strange standing in the cold, filming flashing lights and waiting for a train 😂

I noticed that the signaller granted the van driver permission to cross. That could be Eddy!
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it wasn't, it was someone different on duty when I was here

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Oh ok. Was Eddy at Kintbury?

I was here 2 days after you in the exact spot lol and the signalman cancelled the closure
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel4 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, that's interesting. Guess it's not as rare as I thought lol
@sarahmcilree70464 жыл бұрын
Why was there a Cancelled Clousure is it because they turned on the lights and stopped and they just set it off again I thought after that train I wasn't expecting another train to come I thought that was going to be the end but that train took a while like the first train did.

Cos the signaller granted that van permission to cross
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel4 жыл бұрын
The signalled stopped the lights from flashing to allow a van to cross which had approached the crossing just as the crossing was originally activated. It saved the van waiting for several minutes for the trains.

I have never seen this before!! The driver of that van must have had special permission to cross, what are the chances of catching this on camera? Well done mate 👍
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel4 жыл бұрын
I've only witnessed this only once or twice before, it doesn't happen very often at all. He didn't really have special permission as such, the signaller was being kind and stopped the crossing lowering, which saved the van driver waiting for several minutes. This road isn't that busy so usually not many people are delayed, however there's always a few minutes wait for a train to pass.
