Destiny is an amazing game but I never enjoyed the collectible aspect of cardgames. Had it been a "living" card game I would have been all in. Sad to see it end but not a surprise, Im impressed it kept going for as long as it did.

Given the rise of resin 3d printers for the every man user, why would we be limited by FFG giving up on x wing/legion? IF the worst happens I'm sure files will pop up for both stl for 3d print and pdf for paper. A community core set would be cobbled together easily enough, I mean most of us have used aftermarket acrylic measures and tokens since x wing 1.0 anyway (and mels miniatures for ships tbh).... So it would be a simple case to print off a few card sheets, which could be sleeved for durability to take care of pilot, upgrade and damage cards. I knocked up a scimitar back in 1.0 for the quick click kit, and tbh I wasn't too far off what FFG actually released for 2.0 minus the drone and newer rules. And if a numpty like me can do it... Its gotta be possible 😂

Isolated from its distribution format, Destiny is an excellent simple constructible game. I have been playing casually at work with a friend and we're enjoying it. Definitely sad to see any game line end, though for the casual fan I have enough options already to build a myriad of decks.

I played Destiny for a good while. Had to quit when all my buddies quit; there was nobody left to play with. Sad it didn't take off better. They fell into the "release expansions super fast" and make everything else obsolete pit. Reminded me too much of Magic the Gathering.

My wishlist for FFG regarding its use of Star Wars from here on: 1. X-Wing 2.0 continues with more expansions from all eras and films and TV shows. 2. Armada launches their Clone Wars factions. 3. The RPGs continue to get support, even if they use freelancers to continue the game, including a Sequel Trilogy, New Republic, or pre-Clone Wars era sourcebooks. 4. A second edition of Star Wars: The Card Game (Living Card Game). 5. Outer Rim gets expansions. 6. Legion continues and launches Sequel Trilogy era expansions. 7. A brand new Star Wars game.

I'm worried for Armada. I'm pretty sure Legion and X-Wing are safe, but my baby Armada isn't nearly as big as the others. Hopefully FFG see that the Armada users are VERY loyal. I only just started Armada last Christmas and my wallet is already asking me to stop.

Destiny player here, also former Imperial Assault player. I think most folks thought at least Set 10 would drop and then who knows after that, so this was expected at some point but definitely not this quickly. Once the rumor of one of the co-designer being laid-off was released last week though, there was definitely great fear.

I'm not surprised by this announcement. When the game was released, it was near impossible to find a starter at any of the stores here in Las Vegas. When I finally got my hands on one, almost everyone stopped playing. One of the shop owners bought a bunch of booster boxes and they've been sitting on his shelf for the past few years, collecting dust. The game was interesting and I enjoyed what I did play, but I didn't think it was long for this world. It sucks for those who heavily invested in the game, but I'm sure there will still be people playing it. There are still people playing the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Miniatures game and that's been long discontinued.

Armada is a game that feels like it could have a long healthy life without much support from FFG. I have just picked up the game but there are tons of options to explore for list building and matchups etc. If you only care about organized play events I guess that’s fine. But people seem to jump ship on games that could be played forever.

FFG murdered this game right from the botched release and instant format-cycling to the crappy balancing and over-reaching errata. Destiny was a great idea pulled off half-assedly; maybe FFG wouldn’t be in such dire straits if they put more effort into doing their products right instead of releasing beta-tests and fixing them later.

One of the factors that I do not think you are taking into account is, that I believe that FFG contract with Disney/Lucas film ends this year 2020. Maybe negotiations for renewal are not going so well?

They realized, finally, that you can, in fact, make too many specialty dice. FFG finally found that limit. There is only so many specialty dice you can sell. ...I've never played Destiny, probably a great game, but I'm always low-key teasing about FFG's penchant for weird dice and Destiny was like, cartoonishly guilty of it.

SharpEdgeSoda Destiny was a great design. The dice were really interesting. Really, the biggest nail in Destiny’s coffin was FFG’s erratic release of expansions. It survived its rough launch, but the metagame lurched and surged through alternating periods content flooding and starvation.

There was an employee in the reddit thread about layoffs. He was saying Destiny is pretty much dead and that we should expect Armada to get a push since X-Wing 2.0 isn't getting the numbers they were projecting.

So Crabbok, is it weird that they make this announcement right before the last set comes out and with additional content months away? Compared to something like IA where they just let it fade away before confirming it was done. Or Runewars which just ended. The announcement seems likely to lower the sales for the new expansion. So it is counter to a profit motive. It seems like the announcement has to be meant for someone other than the gaming community - like shareholders or potential buyers.

legion has been canceled in brazil, krosmaster and L5R as well. Here we have the same company that distributes it, so no more of these products in Portuguese. Those who want to continue to play will need to import from US.

Feel bad for the players of that game, althought it never attracted me, for not having any miniature and other reasons that doesn't matter right now. Yesterday for example, Galápagos Jogos (local distributor of Asmodee/FFG in Brazil) launched an unexpected note that they won't bring products anymore for Star Wars Legion (yep, you read it right), Star Wars Destiny (today this makes sense now...), Legend of Five Rings and Krosmaster. They will only bring expansions of X-Wing 2.0 and Keyforge to Brazil. Won't try to understand the logic behind those companyes.

I’m not too worried about the health of ffg. From what I’ve heard destiny has had production issues throughout its lifespan. The games that I really follow aren’t being cut so hopefully all continues to be well but I do feel for the destiny fans

I agree with your statements, I had got a startet, but I was not able to get any boosters, they were sold out. I ordered a whole booster at my hobby shop, and it didn't get there until after the next set was released. At least here in Germany, it seemed like a total failure in getting it to the customers. I really hope Armada doesn't get the axe, but it is easy to lose interest. It seems that there is always one shipment, and if you don't get a copy from that, you might never get one.

They really need to get product out for armada, it's frustrating that I can't get Raiders, Arquitens, gladiators, ISD, fighter packs and so on. All that's around atm is VSD and Interdictors, which I already have 2 and 1 of respectively.

Looks like a refocus for 2020. Streamlining their catalogue going forwards seems like a good way to keep the remaining games strong. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear something similar for Imperial Assault. With the interactive wing going, I'm not convinced the app will continue and that is all there is now. People need to calm down, FFG isn't going anywhere they are just beginning to focus on their real money making games. If you see a dip in player base that is unable to be overturned sometimes you have to cut a game. I think that in all honesty people losing their jobs isn't great but this makes the company more healthy.

Robert Bechtel the only card game I’ve let myself into is KeyForge, because it has some of the play feel of a card game but there’s no deck building and formats and all that nonsense. Deck is unique and pregenned. Problem solved.

Ok, I talk by my self, but I will proced with some caution buying more stuff, sorry but this ultimate news does not offer much confidence not because of the death of a game or enjoy of modeling but because the communities are still building in an organized game and if they come with no more stuff and organized games our confidence and wallet will not hold the motivation, this kind of news just hurt to keep buying and playing. I lived this with heroclix some years ago and then Neca came to save it for more much years till now. If all of this will benefit the principal games Legion, Armada and X-Wing then it is ok, but sorry for the lovers of SW Destiny. I play Legion as a first game and then Armada, I bougth some imperial ships and I was on the way to start playing X-Wing. I hope this games will hold many more years, I came from heroclix and I am still playing it after 15 years and I have spent much money on it, but then I watch this Star Wars games and I am a big fan of the SW and painting models so Im pretty new here.

I can't help but feel that Disney pressures companies to kill games and merchandise in general so that people get suckered into buying up new starter sets and to get as much as possible out of players up front so they can turn that game over quickly and move on to the next one.

Was a long time coming. A game with mass amount of garbage with a bulky die to find a storage place for in every pack. It died in our area after the second set. Due to lack of product and it turning into a pay to win game. Stores stopped ordering and carrying it because they couldn’t give it away. Too bad they let all those people go as this game would be better as a digital game rather than paper. Look at how popular MTG Arena and MTGO.

Hmmm over saturation and the fact that disney has run the brand into the ground wouldnt help at all .Pretty hard to sell expensive products ( with a small profit margin due to licensing with disney ) For a dying brand .I am a big legion player and while I fear that will go away also , but it wont matter Ill just resin print more minatures for it and print my own unit cards etc and just keep playing at home .

The advantage for Legion, is despite the Disney disaster, people still love the OT and Clone wars material. So it should hold well, I myself want to get into legion, just can't afford it yet.

I love the game ( it is the most fun war game I have ever played and its the badly quoted old star wars lines delivered in game aswell as just a generally easy but still deep and fun game system that makes it great . Nothing like laying down the command card implacable with darth vader and if the opposing player has luke doing your best or worst Darth vader start dropping join me or die stuff from the OT . So I was really saying I love old star wars and this game enough that if it went away I would keep it alive for me .

Oh man a shrinking SW catalog is not good for a company that has the IP. I mean I get Star Wars Insider every month and they seem to be the only company in there that can't get their Star Wars games into people hands. The RPG has an article in there in the most recent one, looks bad. My group will still play Destiny, but we need new Star Wars games and if they can't I hope Disney gives those types of games to someone else, RPG & Card games that is.

Star Wars is not the property is used to be since Disney mucked about with it. Kids are not into it with all the better offering out there. Adults are no longer into it as the characters they grew up loving have been destroyed. Very sad to see such a magical IP run through the Disney grinder. This game sounds like a video game with micro transactions or a sports franchise with yearly releases that makes the previous purchased products useless/unplayable. Pass.
