It's weird and kind of funny how he's just like "Yeah, Liddy has this terrific plan: mugging teams, black ops, kidnapping, providing prostitutes to corrupt the opposition" and talking about it like it's a good thing

It does not sound like a normal conversation. It sounds like a speech. Why? Because he is aware he is being recorded and making sure any future prosecutor listening to the tape will see how "blameless" he is. Listen to where he says "which is perfectly legal" --makes it sound like everything he does he thinks of its "legality" first. This is a set up because at this stage he knows he is going to reveal the tapes and is playing to the recorder that is why it sounds "off".

@@ChrisGWGreen Dean didn't really go to prison. He got to spend his time in an office at the Watergate special prosecutors headquarters during the day and then his nights at a federal facility on a military base. His sentence was reduced to time served after about four months.

The worst decision Nixon ever made was bringing a self promoter like John Dean into the administration.
@Skyking6976
@Skyking6976 3 ай бұрын
Don’t follow your logic based on hearing this conversation. What did he say that was wrong or indicative of a “…self promoter…” My understanding is they were discussing how to cover up a crime and obstruct justice. Of course John is a regular on CNN these days and if you’re a Trumper…I understand why you wrote what you did.

@@powerboatguy2308 My understanding is this audio recording, et al., proved that Dean’s testimony before the committee was truthful. So…don’t quite get the not take anything Dean said, “seriously”??? Looking back at Nixon interviews after leaving office and as I got older, he came across as quite brilliant and insightful. The personality flaw that manifested in obstruction of justice was just inexcusable. BTW…I’ve never gotten the “loyalty” thing…not in the Nixon WH or what’s going on today.

Nothing they’ve thrown at Trump has stuck. Russian collusion was a hoax according to the government’s own prosecutor. There was no “insurrection” on Jan 6. The only person killed that day was murdered by a Capitol policeman, Byrd. I won’t confuse you losers any more with facts. Waste of my time.

Your point is moot. The problem was the coverup, conspiracy, obstruction of justice. If Nixon would have said this is BS, this is illegal and I want no part of it, gone to the American people told them what happened, who he fired because of this…no problem. Like Trump, Nixon had a hatred for the media and I personally believe that’s why he did the coverup. If he was loved by the media he would have admitted it and all would have been forgotten within a week.

This tape is the origin of operation Gemstone which from it's original inception did not include the Watergate break-in. That said to title this video "the origins of the Watergate break-in" is highly irresponsible and is misinformation.
