Basically it combines capitalism with socialism and It Works really well in reduce the gap between the rich and the poor. Negative aspets: high taxes, and high costs! Positive aspets: great cheap universal healthcare system, free universities, very high salaries (in Denmark, a worker from McDonalds gets paid 20€ an hour (23$)), great public transportation... With free market how much do you have to pay for calling an ambulance? Here in Portugal and in every EU countries we pay 0€. Hospital treatments are very cheap and the quality is really good With free market how much do you pay to go to college? In Portugal and some EU countries we pay 800€ a year, other EU countries have free universities and some escandinavian countries pays you to study!

@@ruicunha9693 Free markets haven't existed for a very long time since the early days of the Anerican Republic. What you are currently seeing in the US medical insurance industry is an overreaching government bureaucracy that has been corrupted by corporate influence in the monetary system (the Federal Reserve) and the lobbyists of the American Medical Association. Social democracy is unsustainable since it requires a fraudulent monetary system based on inflating their currency while spending into oblivion.

You know, in my United States Government course in college, 1 thing my professor taught us was that we in the U. S. don't have a "perfect government" but rather we have "the least imperfect government." What he meant by this was that no government on Earth is perfect/without problems, but the United States is considered by many to be the greatest country not because we have no problems but because we have fewer/smaller problems when compared to the governments of the rest of the world. Another thing he said (which the international students in my course agreed with) was that unless you have seen/been affected by a foreign government in some way, you can't make a true comparison between our government and another nation's, and you fail to realize how much better off you are with the U. S.'s problems when compared to the rest of the world. I bring this up because I feel that the Republican's issues with the Affordable Care Act (A.C.A.)/ObamaCare are the same as what my college professor said about our government; the A. C. A./ObamaCare isn't perfect, but it is the least imperfect form of health insurance we have ever had (given how only 1 party wanted to work on it), and despite the Republicans best (or any) efforts over the past 8 years, there is nothing they can do to make the A. C. A./ObamaCare better without making at least 1 part of it worse. Regardless how you feel about it, the A. C. A./ObamaCare has helped nearly 25 million (or 1 out of 14) Americans by now guaranteeing them some form of health insurance. If the Republicans (who in 8 years have made little to no progress on making an actual replacement plan) repeal the A. C. A./ObamaCare, then millions of poor/working class Americans will be screwed by the politicians who they trusted to make policies and laws with the interests for the good of their voters. No matter what the (hopefully sooner than later) replacement plan is, they can't make every good thing better, remove every bad thing, and not increase prices/taxes all within the same plan, so Republicans either have to admit they have no real backup plan and just move on or actually work with Democrats and admit that the A. C. A./ObamaCare is good but can be improved but only through compromise before their voters finally realize that Republicans don't really care about them and they decide to vote for Democrats in 2018.

@PBMS1234 жыл бұрын
You and your professor are wrong. No signicant number of people, think the US is "the greatest country", no do any of those people think you have the least imperfect government either, in fact you'd be far down the list of developed nations, in most peoples eyes. Most people are of the opinion that a single person, wielding almost absolute executive power is not a good thing, case in point, TRUMP. He thinks he's literally ABOVE the law, it takes a 2/3 majority to veto his executive power. Your voting system is a first past the post system, as opposed to most other countries having full preference, proportional representation (i.e. Australia), this causes your presidential races to be built upon mobilizing your base, which causes you to have two extreme candidates that campaign, USUALLY on opposite ends of the spectrum, because getting your base is what wins your elections, rather than actually getting the majority of the country, which is also why Compulsory voting is a thing in Australia, it's your duty, and almost all people are okay with it, because it requires our parties to appeal to EVERYONE. Your statement about the ACA just shows how ignorant you are, the ACA isn't what Obama/Democrats, presented at first, nor is it what they wanted, but the Republicans destroyed the bill watering down almost all parts of it. You're right that "it's the least imperfect health insurance you've ever had" but that BAR is so absolutely low, that is that meaningless statement. The republicans had no replacement plan, they just wanted to remove the ACA, that's all. They hate that poor people get cheap healthcare. You clearly know nothing about your own countries political problems, LET ALONE any other countries, considering you make such declarations about how good your country is, and how it is better than all the rest. It's a joke, the majority of people from other developed nations, would not dream of having to live in America, that would be a fucking nightmare. The sooner you see America for the shithole it is, i.e. having worse healthcare system than some of your poorest neighbours. I'd rather have healthcare in Cuba than in the US, the better.

The difficulty here is that many Americans don't understand the difference between an assurance policy and an insurance policy. An assurance policy is against an eventuality: you WILL die. You insure against a certain date. An insurance policy is against a POTENTIAL event: you MIGHT get sick. If you have a pre-existing condition, then it's an assurance policy and they don't want to sell you one of those because of the increased risk of paying out.

In 2015 a woman in the US with Obamacare went to her doctor in debilitating pain and was diagnosed with dozens of tumors in her abdomen ( some as big as a grapefruit). Before she could get an operation, her boyfriend, William Chapple, started beating her up. He would pick her up and squeeze her around the abdomen until her tumors pushed her intestines through her belly button. He kept her captive for over 3 months, torturing her and threatening to kill her or get her arrested if she tried to escape or get help. When she finally escaped, she also had many other injuries including herniated discs in her back. She went to the hospital but they refused to let her see a doctor because she no longer had insurance. To this day she is still trying to get help but has not seen a doctor for any of her injuries. She can not afford insurance because she is in unbearable pain and can barely work. William Chapple is in prison. He gets free medical care, a roof over his head, 3 meals a day, a job, a free education, a bed to sleep in every night and even free therapy. His victim has been trying to survive homelessness and starvation while enduring unthinkable pain fom her injuries and PTSD with uncontrollable debilitating flash backs from the trauma. Considering he has been holding women captive and abusing them for over 20 years, it is safe to say he will be doing it again when he gets out of prison next year. It is also safe to say that his victim will be dead from the life threatening injuries she was denied medical help for. These are the situations law enforcement and our government hides from us. Obamacare or not, people are suffering and we just ignore them until they are dead. Then it never existed.

And millions of people are barely scraping by because of the premiums they have to pay from health insurance that never benefits them because the deductibles are so high. There are ways of making healthcare cheaper, other than massive spending increases.

I worked in the insurance industry for 3 years. To quote one of my co-workers: "Insurance isn't for people who are already sick. Insurance is for people who are heathy in case they get sick." This callous and unconscionable attitude is common among these companies, and Cruz's rhetoric slides right into it. It's not about helping sick people. To conservatives, those people were always on their own. What the Republicans need to realize is that the ONLY unpopular provision of Obamacare was the mandate penalty. That's it. Everything else was generally to extremely popular. Find a way to make sure American's won't get penalized for not having healthcare and the problem is solved.

As a Canadian I am curious about what you would have to pay monthly out of pocket for your health insurance if you didn't have benefits from your place of employment. If you had to go into the hospital to have your baby with no insurance does the hospital actually bill you?

Guy Werbrouck , absolutely puzzling isn't it ? But the trouble is , people have always been indoctrinated by MSM on both sides , by tv and even radio . All corporate owned , all propagandized formulas that tell Americans that progressives are communists . In reality , you and I know that Sanders aspires to Nordic and some European nations political ethos of ....(drum roll please !!! ) Capitalism with a good social safety network .!!!👏👏👏👏 sadly , unless Americans start getting their news online , Google , foreign news ( many speak English) even progressives podcasters ( they are not paid to lie ) .they will never vote in their own interests . !! The young in America ARE enlightened and much more knowledgeable about other countries politics.because they are always online ..They are outraged about George Floyds public murder , the environment , lack of a future for themselves , watch this space .!!!

Ted didn't give a direct answer. Bernie seems to be against free market competition. I've seen so many people complain about being required to pay so much for insurance. So insurance should be government-mandated instead of state-mandated?

This is an old debate from when Obamacare was one step away from being rescinded. Trump's number one priority was to cancel Obamacare and come up with a new healthcare plan. No plan was popular enough but that didn't stop Congress from actually going ahead with a vote to cancel Obamacare (even if there was nothing to replace it with) It all ended when Sen. John McCain voted against canceling Obamacare. Trump and the Republicans did not have enough numbers to do it.

Why do Americans use Insurance companies for health care ? (I am Canadian). Why do they not use a universal healthcare like the one in Canada ? Canada's annual health care cost per capita is about $,4,700 compare to US's $9,400. Despite the much lowest cost, Canada's health care is ranked in the 30th position by the World Health Organisation, ahead of the USA, ranked 37th. Obviously, there is room for improvement for Canada, but its health care is universal, cheaper and ranked higher than the non universal US healthcare.
