Dr. Osagh is such a great doctor. I wish that there were doctors like him here where I live in Ottawa, Canada treating all kinds of cancer of all four stages to people of all ages.

This is incredible news! But I get so frustrated with these so called clinical trials being made available only to a select few! If a person is dying of cancer, why not put them or as many people as possible on these clinical trials? They have nothing to lose but their life!

The person has to choose to take the meds and waive their rights. These drugs can have serious side affects and a person dying of cancer already has suffered so much.

@@avanulaneway8418 You have a great point and it’s well taken! But I have to tell you, as a person who’s had cancer, and thank god I’ve gotten through it safely, but if it was determined to have been a rare kind of cancer to result in imminent death, you can bet I’d be willing to take my chances! And highly doubt I’d be the only one!

Wow, I am impressed. As a cancer researcher, when they said "cancer vaccine" I immediately became skeptical because I know that stuff doesn't always work. One big reason it doesn't always work is because the tumor microenvironment (the tissue surrounding the tumor) can protect the tumor and prevent immune cells from reaching it and killing it. But he said he injects his vaccine straight into the tumor which totally bypasses that pesky tumor microenvironment and that is awesome. Without knowing anything further about this treatment option, I really hope it is working for people and as a cancer researcher myself who is familiar with all the issues that come with curing cancer and why so many therapies/drugs don't work, I think that was an absolutely amazing idea.

I am so happy for this patient and his family that he has found a treatment for his cancer. I'm a bit confused why a treatment that treats a cancer that already exists in the body is called a vaccine. Vaccines are considered primary prevention to prevent infections and diseases from occurring. Screenings and early treatment are secondary prevention. And, treating a disease that has already occurred in the body is tertiary prevention. Won't giving vaccines a new definition of tertiary prevention only confuse patients? Patients may think all cancer vaccines prevent cancer. Or, they may think only people with a disease need a vaccine. Isn't training the immune system as a treatment for cancer a type of immunotherapy? I researched this and reviewed websites that offer cancer treatments and many are still referring to activating or training the immune system to attack cancer in situ as a type of immunotherapy. Why change the definition now confusing treatments with primary prevention? Patients tend to become confused enough. Allowing politicians to change long held definitions and determine new medical terminology will only confuse them further.
