I was reading some of the comments about fresh food across international boarders. Most of the countries in the Caribbean region prohibit bring fruits and fresh food in. In addition, I believe California and Florida have restrictions regarding the transport of fresh fruit, at least on land. This is to prevent the importation of insects that could ruin citrus crops and other fruit crops like strawberries. We live in Florida and when my wife travels out of state with her horses she has to stop at the agricultural inspection stations that are near the northern and western borders of Florida.

Best layover ever as a passenger was Cancun. Was AA and it was a light flight headed to pick up more passengers before going on to r destination. Weather was bad so they landed us in Cancun. Only 37 passengers on that leg. AA put us in a very nice beach hotel with meal vouchers and gave us a continuing flight the next day in late afternoon. So we got 22 hours in Cancun free. Re: the dog, if all you lost was your food, consider yourself lucky. Within the past year or so, there was the case of an international traveler arriving back in the U.S. with some food (fruit?). Not only was the food confiscated, but she was also fined, I believe around U.S.$ 500.

Sorry you lost your food but that happens when crossing international borders. It’s also the case when traveling in/out of Hawaii. Trust me, I tried to sneak in some fruit and that little beagle made a bee line straight for my bag and I had to eat it right then and there or toss it😊

Hi Kacey - I like your videos a lot. I don’t know anything about being a KZbinr, but here is my perspective that may help. I found myself wondering which hotel you were staying in - like next time I want to go to Cancun, I would seriously consider staying there and booking the same type of suite you were in. So - event though your channel doesn’t have a huge following yet, you still have thousands of followers who are interested in travel. If you put the link to this hotel in the description box, and mentioned that in the video with reference to the kind of room - I.e., ocean view mini suite, or whatever it is, and you approached the hotel and let the, know you were going to do it or ask them if you could receive some kind of consideration for doing so - i.e., future free stay at this or a sister resort property, or CASH 🙂 for example, I bet they would do it and for sure they will as your channel grows. Regardless, consider putting the hotel link in your videos whenever you’re laying over at a nice place - Maui, Cayman, Paris, etc. 👍

My my my....Kacey found Heaven on Earth! With all of the rules and regulations that exist it's impossible for the common everyday person to know them all. As a flight attendant, you should be professional enough to research what you can have on you to each country you're travelling to. Usually fresh food items like fruit and vegetables are not allowed because they can introduce foreign insects and other small living organisms to the destination environment. One Canadian truck driver that I follow mentions almost every time he crosses the border of Can/USA that he must eat his fruits before crossing the border. PS: Also, I think fruit based salad should be much cheaper in Mexico than in the US. Greetings from self-quarantined Finland (that's in northern Europe between Sweden and Russia)!
