I take nothing at face value. This proved difficult when thinking about faith so I prayed and the answer came "All you need is Trust, Belief and Patience."

Letting yourself believe something you don't trust feels a bit like peeing in public. You're relaxing a barrier that's been (rightfully) up, but this must be situational. Hiking with friends? Eh, fine, go pee on that tree. Peeing in a boardroom meeting or zoom call? Inappropriate as hell. The same goes for faith. Having faith that you'll be okay after a car wreck or making it through tough times? Fair, and even admirable! Having faith that you know who/what began the universe, that you know what comes after death, that morality is a property of billions of lightyears of mostly empty space and debris, or that human morality is worthless? Yeah, not so much.

Scientism Scientism is the view that science and the scientific method are the best or only way to render truth about the world and reality. LOL! While the term was defined originally to mean "methods and attitudes typical of or attributed to natural scientists", some scholars, as well as political and religious leaders, have also adopted it as a pejorative term with the meaning "an exaggerated trust in the efficacy of the methods of natural science applied to all areas of investigation (as in philosophy, the social sciences, and the humanities)". AND is COMPLETELY EMPTY.

A religion is a system of belief typically associated with worship of a God or gods, and by extension, the following of the inherent moral structure within the system. Science does not possess any of those qualities. There is no deity worshipped, there are no moral obligations (other than ethical laws, which is a separate thing to moral prescriptions). Science, by virtue of how it’s conducted, gets rid of biases. That’s what peer review does. Everybody wants their theory to be right, so they review other people’s papers trying to prove them wrong, and when nobody can prove the theory to be wrong or have mistakes, then and only then is it an accepted theory or concept. Religion does not do this. Religion is a top down authoritarian type of system. Authoritarian does not necessarily mean bad, but that’s what religions are describing. The Christian god has complete dominion and control of the world, whatever he says goes. Science is under constant revision, the same can’t be said for religion.

That’s complete bullshit. If science is a “religion of its own, then why was the scientific revolution during the renaissance heavily impacted by Muslims and Christians? Why were almost 50% of Nobel Prizes during the 20th century going to Christian scientists? Rejecting god and religion is not done on the basis of a separate faith, but done for the same reasons why YOU YOURSELF reject all other gods. God is a human mythical construct, and has never been demonstrated to be true. History has shown that god was something invented- not discovered. Science discovers facts, it doesn’t invent them. That’s why it’s impossible for it to be a religion- science is constantly trying to debunk what it thinks it knows. Religion works the opposite way - it constantly tries to preserve what it believes to be true, even when the evidence goes against it. That’s why your comment is ignorant and stupid.
