So my wash day after taking out 3-4 month old braids is usually a lot easier than this. I switched it up and should have stuck to my normal way of doing things but I still brought you guys along with me.

. I’m a natural stylist. I can tell you bout to mat tf out your hair the way you taking it down. Usually adding a bunch of product like that makes the hair stiff and when you wash it it’ll clump together and mat. You need to take one braid and detangle dry with an oil then spray with water and oil and slowly get the roots from being clumped together and do 2 or more two strand twist for each braid then shampoo your hair with the two strand twist so your hair will not shrink and mat in the shower from washing. When you leave braids in a long time you need to wash your hair separately :). Do this with most my clients who leave styles in for 3 months and their hair is flourishing .

The night before take down, saturate the hair with oil your hair likes. Put a plastic bag or cap, scarf and le as ve it overnight. The next day start detangling. fingers only. no combs.You can also put a watery conditioner on the braids before you start detangling.

If I lived in your state I'd be coming to you for protective style help. I'm sure you have so many clients!! I've tried your method, it does work. One at a time dry oil take down, spray to soften aong the way. Perfect! Thx for the tips.🌺🌺🌺

Hair is weakest and paralyzed when it’s wet. A whole lot of unnecessary matting like what you experienced, breakage and shedding occurs when detangling hair that is wet. Detangle with oil (no conditioner) like hemp seed oil or olive oil. I started detangling with oil at the advice of my natural hair stylist and I’ve never looked back because am able to retain length, reduce breakage and avoid matting.

I feel your exact pain. When my hair got longer over the summer it took me a moment to realize I had to adjust my wash day regimen to accommodate the new length God just blessed me with lol. I now have to wash and do my hair in sections to make it easier for me to complete the routine. I can only imagine what the new adjustments will be after I take down these current braids.

For the life of me I cannot wash my hair in sections. It actually makes it harder for me. I tried doing it with my daughter as well. It's just something I don't like to do lol but yes defintely have to get used to the new length. I have braids in right now as well. lol Pray for me. I plan on taking them down this week.

Let the prepoo and DC sit in your hair for a while before detangling, this way it's softer to handle. Coming from a long term protective styler. You have beautiful hair.

God is wanting you to come to him!! He loves us. You don’t have to wonder who has your back or who loves you!! Pray this prayer and have God come into your life. Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father. I choose now to turn from my sins, my self-centeredness, and every part of my life that does not please you. I choose you. I give myself to you. I receive your forgiveness and ask you to take your rightful place in my life as my Savior and Lord. Come reign in my heart, fill me with your love and your life, and help me to become a person who is truly loving-a person like you. Restore me, Jesus. Live in me. Love through me. Thank you, God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

I start at the ends. Washing my hair in sections just doesn't work for and I have a video using aloe vera. I use that quite often. The only reason this wash day was a bad one for me is because I didn't fully detangle before getting in the shower.

😭 girl!!! You scared me. Use some oil or if you're a conditioner girl along with your pre poo. The amount in your hair at the time was not enough. Keep your hair in sections from start to finish, don't let the sections get to know each other. Don't pull your fingers down the length of your hair. Hold the hair with the same hand that your finger detangling with and detangle the hair by using your thumb between your index and middle finger. Glad you didn't cut your hair💗 it's so pretty.

If you have expression bulk hair fed into the cornrow, it’s not so easy to take down at three months with 4c hair. The roots are sometimes so thick and it can take a good 2-3 hour to detangle. But I’m pleased that you showed the shedding. I always have a heart attack with the mount of shedding, but keep the length. Thanks for the content.

Girrrl, so this happened to me when I was relaxed. I took my braids out, wore the braid out, then decided I would cowash it the next day while I’m the shower. My hair matted into 4 dreads. I spent hours trying to detangle before I went to the salon and had them cut it. I was left with 2 inches of new growth that I relaxed and wore into a cute pixie cut for a year lmbo

It wasn’t shedding after you finished with the whole process, it was breakage since you were ripping through the hair trying to get the tangles out. Spraying water on the braids was a bad idea as your shed hair wasn’t removed yet so your hair began to shrink from its stretched state and tangled with the shed hair. You also should have twisted each section after detangling to keep the hair elongated which also would have prevented further matting.

I left my hair in similar braids for 3 months too. It took me 6 DAYS to detangle. I was detangling non stop only taking breaks to eat, sleep and go to the bathroom. My hair is 21 inches long and 4c/b. I don't know how these girls do the 3 month thing in a day. I guess looser curls make it much easier to detangle?

First I have to say thank you for posting a video with natural braided hair as the subject. The verdict is in on weaved fake hair. ALL we have to do is look at the videos of the damage it has done to millions of Black Women's scalp and hair. I didn't have time to watch this entire video but will come back and watch it again. However I truly hope that Black Women STOP putting hair imported from China in their heads. As long as you are cleaning your hair every 2 weeks, it doesn't matter how long you leave braids in. I have micro braids in my head that I braided myself that has been in for 11 months. I wash, condition, and repair my braids every 2 weeks without fail. In 11 months my hair has grown 5 inches. When I first braided it they were 3 inches long. Therefore I hope videos like this continue to get posted so that Black Women will STOP ruining their scalps and hair with a fabric (not hair) imported from China.

Why can’t black woman wash their hair everyday or every other day so their hair could be moisturized and not be stuck on the same length?
@Laymybabyhair
@Laymybabyhair 3 жыл бұрын
Because our hair isn’t set up to be washed everyday. It’s a bit ‘drier’ and more coarse than other hair types. Washing it everyday would dry out the cuticle and shaft and make it easier to break off. This is why we do protective styles so that we can retain and gain length

We cannot wash our hair everyday because it will ruin our hair more than help it. It will cause it to be dry and brittle. Our hair usually isn't at the same length it just appears that way. We have something called shrinkage which will make our hair look shorter than what it is but if we were to straighten it, it will actually be pretty long.

Shampoo is a striping agent - it doesn’t moisturize. Our hair is already naturally drier than most textures.

Black hair tends to shrink. So a woman who appears to have shoulder length hair may actually have waist length hair when it is straightened. Shrinkage causes our hair to appear to always be the same length but this is one of the greatest misconceptions about our hair.
