The main dinner meal might change from year to year, but Grandpa can be counted on to make the ”green stuff” 💚 (pistachio pudding salad)! And there are always cinnamon rolls & breakfast sausage for breakfast 😋

Ten days ago, I got the biggest roast... I think it was over 6#/2.7kg. It went in the back of the fridge for aging... time for the enzymes to soften the connective tissues and eliminate the bloody bitterness. Evening of the 23th, I made the whole shebang in an eight-quart stock-pot. . Cut it with a spoon. . By early-afternoon on the 25th, that entire pot of stew was gone. Good times!

Bombay beach ruins is a cool stop, there is a free hot springs south of you ( holtville hot springs) BLM land free camping. Brawley has amazing date shakes. Oxbow recreation and wildlife area campground is cheap and a safe place to camp so you can explore the area. Then work your way north to Parker, AZ and take the boat out on the Colorado River!

Last time I was at Salton Sea there was very little water, lots of bleached fish bones, and it smelled baaad!

I hope you have a truly lovely Christmas filled with Best Wishes from Everyone who adores you, not just on the channel but, everyone everywhere!!! I did manage to send off my PayPal Christmas gift to you which after the conversion rate from Canadian to American (thanks Mr. Trudeau grrr) went from a smart $111.00CDN to $80.00 USD. So I will send another support payment (lol) at the end of January!!! Am I right in remembering that the Salton Sea has a part, or a Park named after the late, great Sonny Bono? Also, great trip on the Suzuki Burgman, those and the old Honda Elite 250, and Silverwing 500 are just fantastically comfortable mile munchers (or Kilometer Killers) but it is a pain in the ass for loading. I guess feel better that it wasn't one of those 3 wheeled scooters from hell!! (Let's face it, if you need 3 wheels on a bike, unless you are handicapped,....buy a car {unless it's for off road use, those 1984 Honda Big Red Trikes, the 200es atv were just flat out Moose Pullers/Haulers}) . Speaking of Off Road, I think you aren't that far from the recording studio of one of my most favourite bands! The studio named "Rancho de la Luna" which is up near Joshua Tree. The Studio is owned by Dave Catching and has seen artists from Arctic Monkeys to Iggy Pop to Queens of the Stone Age and many, many more record there, you might even get a tour if you find yourself there!! Also, thanks for the tour to Salvation Mountain!! I always thought Mr. Knight was a genius and his art the finest of the Folk Art variety. I can recall a couple movies set in or have featured Salvation Mountain, the first being a John Waters movie who's name escapes me but it was something like Pleasures to Plagues or something like that, and the movie called "Hole" about three lives that intertwine around a convict, a single woman and a detective. Well, I'm off to clean, put up my tree, wrap a gift and get ready to go shopping tomorrow for supplies to last me until the end of January!!! Once again Merry Christmas!!! For the next little shipment I will need that address or postal box you are using so I can send you those pins for the camper and maybe some treats for Mona too!!! Merry Christmas, Chris, Elizabeth & Mona. My Dad used to take us fishing at Salton Sea about 65 years ago, and we caught nice corvina. We slept in our car and really roughed it, but we loved being there. It was hotter than hell during the summer, but we just loved being there for a few days every year. I also remember Salvation Mtn when it was barely getting started and thought the guy had heat stroke painting over dirt in the desert. Where are you headed for New Year's? Love it! Had the same fascination with Salvation Mountain made my trek there January 2020. There's a really interesting documentary on the area (it's a little old, but still fascinating) called "Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea" it's on KZbin definitely worth checking out.
