Candies 'n Curses | Normal Mode Olly's Flashlight Run (with commentary)

A few things to point out:
- Many of the tips in this video apply to other flashlights and CC mode in the game.
- The random change in text color is to make it more visible.
- Some things I do in this run are far from optimal for a less-experienced player doing a casual run, so listen to the tips and ignore my poor choices in life.
- This is my first time ever editing a video! I think it turned out pretty well, and I hope you think so too!

which charms do u recommend?

Well, for an Olly's Flashlight run... you're not able to equip charms. But in general, Peppermint of Souls + any companion charms (such as Golden Tako or Churra) work very well for any weapon. I'd also recommend charms like Rally and Bubblegum if you need the extra HP. If we're talking about treasures for Olly runs, defensive and HP-based treasures (such as Sugar Heart, Jawbreaker, Spirit Fudge, Zappy Taffy, Halo Bar, etc.) are usually the best. Companion treasures also work very well but can deal damage to you (except for Chocolate Mousse), so you'll have to be mindful of that. Undead Curse + Devil's Bargain is also great if you get both, but Undead Curse by itself is also very good.

how does the toxic curse help on bosses? I always ignored her

Toxic Curse is what lets you do that strategy on Fire Spirit where you can damage the boss by constantly running into him. The reason Toxic Curse makes this possible is because Toxic Curse hurts enemies that hurt you, so this method of damage can even go through the boss's locked phases where you're normally not supposed to hit him. Toxic Curse is also useful for clearing the mini skulls that Necro Witch shoots. It used to be somewhat useful on Phantom Worm as well, but since the latest update, it's no longer useful for that fight.

@@ninguem-xq8lf Yeah, no problem! I'm glad I can help! For beams, there's a few tips I typed out on the Tako Boy Studios Discord server, so I'll just copy paste that here. Also some general tips for using beams (more specifically, Olly's Flashlight): - Use your health as a resource, it's okay to take damage, just not too much of it - Use invincibility frames to your advantage, you have a second of invincibility after being hit, so kill all you can in that time if you do get it - Be aware of the floors above and/or below you, as some enemies can hit you from many floors away (Pyromancers, Spitter Spiders), and other deadly enemies can spawn that should be taken out quickly - Kill enemies as quickly as possible and target stronger and more hindering enemies (Spitters, Flambeaus, Flambes) - Move efficiently and use midair turns to find openings on floors so you don't get hit With King's Beacon, you have a lot more free reign. You'll want to stay under the Wraiths as much as you can so that you can jump up and hit them with your crown to get Bubblegum Wraiths. You can also stay near your Bubblegum Wraiths to protect yourself from enemies, since they kill anything they touch. King's Beacon is quite a good weapon for CC, so hopefully those tips help! Watching my other videos might also help you get a better feel for how to move with a beam!

@@iputmilkbeforethecereal Pretty much anything that helps with health is great. Halo Bar for another life, Bubblegum for extra hits, Sugar Heart, Spirit Fudge, Chocolate Shell, and Butterfly Sugar are good options. Things that reduce damage are also good, like Jawbreaker, Dragon Scale Lollipop, Foot Chew, and even Punching Bag Curse are really good. In particular, though, you'll want to aim for Undead Curse. It gives you 80 SHP in exchange for all of your health, and you also get a soul heart meter to spawn infinite hearts, assuming you can get good combos. Undead Curse + Devil's Bargain is especially strong, since it doubles your SHP and makes soul hearts worth 8 SHP instead of 4. Of course, the treasures help you more if you play well with the flashlight itself, so practice as much as you can, too.
