Candle Tunneling

Candle maker beginners! This problem drove me crazy when I first started! When your candle burns it creates a tunnel. Honestly, this isn't a big deal. Some of my candles still do this from time to time and it could just be the batch of wax or wicks isn't as consistent as when you did your initial tests. Whatever the reason, there's an easy fix when testing candles, and I mention it in this video.
Remember, wax has a memory, so your first burn really sets the stage for the rest of your burns. Try to burn your candles for 3-4 hours on your first burn.

I'm a baby candle maker. Just learning. and tunneling. But where I live is cold now Midwest. So, I'm not sure if room temp is a factor. I use beeswax and hemp for the wick. There is really no info on hemp wick.

How did you get the candle melt evenly ? I have 4oz tin and a glass jar but they don’t melt the whole thing. I have a tunnel candles too… also can you tell me more about the wick problem. I have customers telling me that the wick is going down and they couldn’t light them… what should I do? How do I make it right next time when i makes the candles. Please help

Hey Vanessa! I'm sorry for not replying earlier. So usually when the wick goes down or the flame goes out its usually because of either the wick being too small, or there were sinkholes in your wax below the surface. This is very normal for soy wax. If you search "Fix Sinkholes Candlemaking" there should be a lot of videos on this, I haven't made one yet but am planning on it in the future!
